Yeah why bother looking back to watch the greats fight i never bothered with Ali he isn't challenging the Heavyweights anytime soon. Erdei will get his WBO light-Heavyweight title back he only vactaed because Braehmer is a bigger sell to his promoters (so the guys on the Euro were saying) and since he is locked up they will want erdei in there first. Good thing is the fragomeni fight showed Erdei had skills and wasn't just a fighter hanging on to the belt.
No not really mate, I dont see the point, I just like watching current fighters, I bet you could count on one hand how many times I havent paid for a Sky Box Office bill in the last 7/8 years. I never miss Friday Fight Night, always stay up if Sky have a bill from America early on a Sunday morning, just dont really study old fighters.
Because point 1 is such a great point, I cant dispute it. 2. I from a purely selfish point of view watch the old masters and boxing to see techniques and strategies. Also learning about boxing is fun and guys on forums like this really know there stuff and you get some good discussions. But if you dont understand it fair enough, I by my own account am a total boxing nerd, and boxing is my life. So thanks for calling my life so far a waste of time
Maybe I was a bit harsh calling it a waste of time but I just dont see the point but everyone to their own isnt it. Are you being sarcastic about point 1 being a great point?
I could say watching boxing nowadays is a waste of time, because fighters arnt the same astandard and you wont learn anything. I wasnt being sarcastic at point 1 because I can hardly argue with it could I.
But why do you watch boxing? On a basic level. Not because you don't know the result, and not for the future. You probably don't know who is going to win the next Chess championship. If you like boxing its pretty obvious why people would watch boxing. Past or present. It might not be your thing but asking what the point of it is...pretty dumb to say the least.
The point is that some of the best fighters and best fights of all time are on those shitty black and white films. If you are a boxing fan, I'd assume you'd want to watch a bit. But if its not to your taste then fair enough. I'd at least hope you'd look up some of the older coloured TV stuff. You don't know what your missing mate.
I just watch Boxing for the enjoyment really not to learn anything because if its done right, there isnt a better sport, I love the build up to a massive fight and watching massive fights more than a do watching football and I am a massive football fan.
Well the feeling you get from a massive fight, is the feeling I get watching any boxing, especially the old all time greats.
:deal Boxing is the only sport where I watch footage from the past. Usually, the stuff from yesteryear is better than what we get today, the only downside is the quality of the film but you soon get used to that.
