The disparity between their activity levels is actually somewhat daunting. Same with the vast difference in the amount of hall of famers one faced over the other. It’s not easy betting against Moore at light heavyweight. It’s also interesting how Moore’s mother insisted he was born in 1914 and he said 1916. Anyway with all this said I’m not sure one way or the other. In one corner you have a larger than life all time great who fought everybody and in the other you have a dominant athletic freak of nature who looked unbeatable for several years. I’m thinking it could go either way
Jones was a sensation like we've never seen before. He beat Bernard Hopkins who himself is arguably top 20 of all times, Felix Trinidad and James Toney. Moore ranks #6 in my all time top ten behind Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, Roberto Duran, Julio Cesar Chavez and Henry Armstrong but slightly ahead of Benny Leonard, Willie Pep and Harry Greb. He beat Harold Johnson, Carl Olson, Joey Maxim, Charley Burley (I think?) and a lot of others I cannot remember, he lost to Ezzard Charles, I think, to Rocky Marciano but dropped the rock, to Floyd Patterson and to Ali when he was super old. Based on that, id have to guess Jones provides a lot of troulbe for Moore but Moore wins by decision, In a three fight series maybe Jones outpoints Moore in one of them. Also lets not forget Archie's power which may not be enough to knock out such a great defensive boxer like Jones but it would hurt everytime he lands one.
