That was a fabulous post.A whole different way of looking at things, and by that I mean your own contribution more than the video, which I thought was less detailed and pretty common knowledge.

But I'm going to try and watch the Judah fight again,as I forgot how different he can look in the high guard stance, although my main basis for Floyd winning has always been Manny's dislike for effective straight punches, and I feel he would just stop Manny from getting set on a regular basis. If I'm honest,I don't think Floyd would even give a second's consideration to switching. He'd most likely be confident of catching Manny on the way in regularly, even more so back then.
But that's one of the best counter arguments I've seen in a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Pac has just an up hill fight man....he would be in the ring with a man who is taller longer and just as quick....

Floyd controls distance so well its scary and for a shorter fighter with short arms man....i dont know...Pac is a very impatient fighter and he is often times off balance and he lunges....Floyd will exploit this....its a terrible characteristic of Pac.

JMM literaly controlled pac with feints, timing, and controling distance....now JMM has to some what stay in the striking distnace with Pac because of his size Floyd will not have to do so and he is quicker and generally a better overall fighter than both.....i dont know....it'd be a huge upset to me if Pac won.

The Pacquiao that fought Cotto, you can argue that he was very much peak at this point in time (well, Hatton and Cotto)...he looked ****ing great in both.

These versions had the best shot at Mayweather IMO. Overall, his hand speed and explosiveness was awesome, his footspeed was great, his upper body movement (an important factor due to the height and size disadvantage he has, would need to use it to help get in to that mid range where he is most dangerous), his feinting, his reactions were all peak at this point in time.

I always used to think that Pacquiao would have to come out of the blocks quick against Mayweather if they ever fought, get a few rounds in the bag before Mayweather gets his range, then force Mayweather to adapt whilst he takes the fight to him showing his massive heart and will to win. However, Mayweather does like to get his range very quickly against southpaws, almost forcing his work at times just to get the right distance and angles he can land his punches.

I could see Pacquiao maybe sitting back a touch at first like he did against both Hatton and Cotto, take his time and look for openings, counter punching the counter puncher. How successful he is with this, who knows. Mayweather would probably use the jab early to get that distance right, setting it up to land that straight right down the pipe (example - Ortiz). Pacquiao is more than capable of drawing that jab with a feint, and coming back with a double jab, left hand (whether the jabs land or not, putting himself in a position to land that left - first jab/feint to draw Mayweather's own jab, driving in with the second jab, then potentially landing that explosive/damaging left). This will more than likely place Mayweather straight in to his defensive shell whether the shots land or not, Pacquiao then has to use his quick footspeed to create an angle on Mayweather (even better if Mayweather is up against the ropes) and attack the body, and switch to the head.

If/when Pacquiao gets Mayweather up against the ropes, Pacquiao can take his time, feint, feint, touch Mayweather with the jab, and instead of aiming his left for his head, line the shot up for just past Mayweather's hip, catch Mayweather as he bends low to avoid the shot. Pacquiao could definitely pull this off, especially with his stance being a positive in this type of scenario.

Mayweather will undoubtedly get his range as the middle rounds close in, he will become more ambitious in his attacks, leaping left hook (he threw it regularly in the Marquez bout, he had a bit more spring in his drive), straight right, etc. Pacquiao will have to try counter punch with Mayweather, and punch with him. If Pacquiao can read when Mayweather is going to throw that leaping left hook (which is very difficult because he turns a jab in to a left hook in no time, hides it perfectly), Pacquiao needs to throw that right hook and come back with a second phase. Or he needs to throw that straight left simultaneously.

Pacquiao can't become frustrated, Mayweather will tie him up at every opportunity, he will make him miss, he won't engage when he doesn't want to. Pacquiao has to be patient. If Pacquiao starts getting frustrated, Mayweather will start forcing the mistakes out of him easier, peppering him with that straight right that he will probably have success with anyway. Mayweather will enter his high guard at times, Pacquiao cannot stand in front of him and wait for Mayweather to drop his hands, he needs to use that footspeed to keep turning Mayweather, get Mayweather off balance in that defense, then come back with hurtful shots.

I can type about this bout all day, but I'll leave it at that. That's a half analysis anyway.

Very well stated. I see why so many people hold your opinion in high esteem. Enjoyed reading that, and after I've been to sleep, I will discuss :good

    Cheers Brah. :good

Just had a rethink about something though.

When I say Pacquiao will have to punch with Mayweather, I wouldn't suggest he do this all the time. Mayweather's one punch speed is greater than Pacquiao's, which would mean Pacquiao's timing would have to be spot on, otherwise he would be left waiting too long looking for the counter, and overthinking his work.

The best thing Pacquiao could do is hurt Mayweather's ego by landing solid shots on him, then switch to a bit of counter punching. Let Mayweather come attack you, let him open up his offense, then punch with him.

I actually think Mayweather would win but wouldn't write off Pac.

    Because-

Pac has more power than Mosley, throws more puches for more odd angles, therefore he can hurt Mayweather as Mosley did and wouldn't let Floyd off the hook as easily. I also think it the less clear rounds that are even the judges may give to Pacquiao due to his added agrression. I also don't think Mayweather has the power to hurt Pacquiao. I didn't see Pacquiao hurt once in his fights with De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Marg, Mosley or Bradley. Marquez put him on his heels put never really hurt him.

I'll argue FOR MANNY on this one but I'm gonna argue some items as to what he should NOT DO.

Manny would have to try and overwhelm Floyd. He can't do his normal "stutter step," and would instead have to throw a 1-2 and step away. He would neDt to keep his JAB HIGH and not overcommit himself. To take Floyd's reach and size, he would need to be quicker at the feet but also use more technical footwork to take Floyd out of position. To do this he would need to make it a high speed fight and he would have to control the tempo. Punching power is all good and Manny has a bit more than Floyd. If he can get lead position BEFORE Floyd drops his back foot, he has an ok chance to land something decent. He can't take stupid chances either and this is not a knock by any means. He would NEVER be able to "run in" on Floyd like he does. His jab would be key though..hit Floyd whereever you can with the jab and if you see him slip just a tad, BANG pop him with a straight left.

With all due respect Shane Mosley hits harder than Manny Pacquiao. The last thing to go is your power and Shane still had that. Just couldn't land the big shots late in his career but did pull one off as we all know.

I would like to see a Pacquiao fan argue the other way.

It is easy to play poker if you have the best hand...it is not easy to play poker if you don't have the best hand.

Let's see a Pacquiao fan argue the other way and FOR FLOYD.
