John..... IMO it was actually a worse stoppage than Calzaghe vs Manfredo - even though it was a bull**** stoppage it was still hilarious. Manfredo shouldn't have even been in the same country as Calzaghe never mind the same ring, yet the referee waited while Calzaghe started missing with his shots and Manfredo seemed to have started to get himself together before jumping in :rofl This was just bloody awful...... there were ten seconds left FFS.
Yep thats why it was so awful. Truely awful, im sick of these ****s shilling for Warren. The ref should have a clock in his head. Stopping a guy in questionble circumstances when there are 8 rounds left and he's out of his depth is one thing, but a bull**** flurry stoppage with 10 seconds remaining was sickening.
It was a B.S stoppage to be fair, Brit refs are over scared of fatal injuries. They seem to want to stop fights just cos a fighter looks unsteady. There are no fairytale endings where a boxer turns a fight around against all odds anymore...
These dodgy decisions and stoppages really need to be sorted out. Obviously you cant legislate for basic human mistakes but some score cards seem to be pretty much decided before the fight and some stoppages are laughable. These decisions **** with peoples lives. Victims of fights they won but have an L on their record will get less cash, wont bring a belt to the table if its straight after etc etc, it all adds up. This fella on the weekend might not get a call next time as a promoter might think "**** it he's been stopped now my guy cant be the first". Not to mention him just surviving with someone as good as Gavin probably means the world to him.
Totally agree, bull**** stoppage, he was well beaten but wasnt getting stopped, wonder if it was just to keep the stoppage tally up
