Totally took the excitement away knowing morales had barely won a round while most had it close after 10. Even if they only tell it to the corner its obviously going to be mentioned, I like not knowing the score and hoping for a right outcome afterwards, rather than know the deal troughout.
How did you have it? I had it about 117-111 or somewhere around there? I think hbo had it closer than I did.
I agree. And even worse is that informing the corners of the scoring between rounds can alter the natural course of the fight. For instance, tonight when Morales' corner received the judges' scores through 8 rounds, they were furious and told Morales to try for a knockout. He goes out in round 11 and gets dropped and nearly knocked out himself because he was gunning for a stoppage. Had the scores not been disclosed to the corners, perhaps things would've unfolded differently. Basically, they should just let the fight reach it's natural conclusion rather than interfere and complicate things. Luckily, it seems this open scoring is only used in Texas and some foreign countries so far.
115-112, I agreed with harold to be honest. Exactly, Erik had no chance to ko him, he might have cruised to a draw on some peoples cards or a win? who knows? I agree completely that its should run its natural course with them not knwoing rather than interfere to affect the outcome.
Sadly, that seems to be the case. I remember they also had this **** with aydin vs jojo dan 2, with the commentator announcing the scores troughout the fight and it really took the excitement out of it for me. I really hope they quit that **** rather than make it a regularity.
They were much closer than Morales' trainer was saying. Even after a 10-8 11th and 10-9 12th round losses, two of the cards still had it within 4 and 5 points. I think I had it 116-111. I gave Morales rounds 2, 4, 5, and I think it was 8. Theoretically, it would have inspired Morales to keep pushing on the gas through the 12th.
Open scoring after every round should be done then we know when people like Van Hoy are trying to screw a fighter and the fans.
Well, I'm not a fan of the 10 point must system in general, or at least the way it is applied. You can give a boxing lesson and still only win the round by one point. Get knocked down while off balance and you lose the round by 10 even if you were otherwise winning it in most cases.
