I want to ask what the consensus about him is in this site, his resume is not Great or perhaps even good, but he won all if not most of his fights in a dominating fashion and became a World Champion at a young age. He wasted last year fighting two unknown boxers, although it is not his fault that Uzcátegui had covid and pulled out, he could at least fought any big names in PBC once.

I for one would like if he fought Uzcategui after he fights David Lemieux in May, then challenge Charlo and Caleb Plant next year to gain more recognition. Then MAYBE he could try to fight Canelo. If it does not happen he should just move up to light heavyweight.

He want to fight the best and not choosing, that"s enough for me to tell he want to be unified and atg, time will tell, its his manager who will choose anyway...where the money goes.

I think it would be difficult for Benavidez to become his own independent promoter considering it would be very difficult getting fights that the DAZN, PBC and Top rank could easily make with the fighters that they already have on their roster.

the problem is he want Canelo but Canelo went to lhw to fight Bivol, but Benavidez could fight charlo or Andrade and be champion and get recongnition he deserve or he could lose...i dont rate him high for now need to view more of him in big fights.

There should be an option for both.

He's decent, but largely unproven and possibly becoming overrated.

    Has boatloads of potential.
    He is highly undisciplined.
He had the super middleweight division on lock & gave it all up … disgraceful.

He looks like he could be one of the best at the weight. but he needs to prove it by fighting the other top guys in the division.

If he clears out 168 I might consider him a challenge for Canelo. Otherwise I'm not interested in 168. He needs to do better than fighting Lemieux.

What I've seen of him doesn't impress me that much. He's big, clearly has power but from a technical perspective he's lacking and I think if he ever does fight Canelo his deficiencies will get exposed badly, similar to when Smith fought Canelo.

He doesn't move his head, his foot work and therefore balance is poor, he doesn't counter punch. He simply has size and power. Maybe he has those intangible qualities that can make up for those technical flaws like and an iron jaw, absolute self belief and an immeasurable will to win. But just looking at him based on skills, he's no threat to Canelo.

He lost the first Gavril fight. So I don’t consider him unbeaten and I don’t consider him elite.

Gavril has been frozen out of big fights since the two Benavidez contests.

Benavidez is huge at the weight but he won’t be able to drain himself down forever like that. When he goes up in weight his level drops further.

I like him a lot and think he will settle in at 175 in a year or two. We will see if his power carries up to 175 but I think his biggest attribute is his fast hands/combination punching. I remember reading an interview with him where he said he walks around at 195. Cutting down to 168 has to be hell and might be doing him more harm than good.
