He is going to fight a faded Francisco Vargas this Saturday who was a champion at super featherweight for two years, taking on the likes of Takeshi Miura, Juan Manuel Lopez, Orlando Salido, Miguel Berchelt and Isaac Cruz.

Valenzuela Is currently 22 years old and still quite behind compared to the other lightweight contenders, he has little to no amateur background similarly to David Benavidez reason why Jose Benavidez Sr was skeptic of training him since he did not want to start training someone from scratch. However, he seems to have impressed the Media by the fact that he has dropped Teofimo Lopez twice in sparring. He also has been very active since 2021 fighting 5 times with each fight being a step up.
