A fighter a substantial size, weight and and youth advantages who wiped out the previous generation of fighters around his weight class or a dangerous and capable fighter?

His win over Miguel Marriaga was a very nice scalp, and underrated because of Marriaga's relative obscurity. Marriaga has an amateur win over Walters and in general is in my opinion one of the more underrated fighters floating around today.

He also just randomly floated up a weight class, to 130, to fight Jason Sosa. Sosa picked up a strap in his match following the Walters match.

Looked like a straight up killer.

Since failing to make weigh his career has screeched to a halt.

Getting knocked out by Loma isn't going to help him.

He'll probably balloon up to LW and get knocked out again.

I think he'll go down as a never was.

    He iced Donaire.

    I enjoy watching him.

Do you think he has been punished for not making weight?

Well he lost his belt and then the draw next time out in a higher division, a combination of that and inactivity kinda removes any reward for beating him, but the risk of he power is always there.

What credit will Loma really get? People will point to the above factors and will still clamour for fights with Salido and Vargas.

Maybe Walters has been frozen out a bit I'm not sure, but I'd be surprised to see him ever win a meaningful fight again.

I think Walters has underrated skill. He is a big and strong fighter, powerful, tough, and I think Lomachenko is going to have a much more difficult time with him than people realize.

He is underrated on the skill department, he put some nice rolls and counters and people only see his power.

He's a good offensive fighter. Defensively, he leaves a lot to be desired.

Also not nearly as effective at 130 as he was with a significant size edge at 126.

I can't stand Donaire, so Walters KOing him will always stand well in my book.

Having said that, Loma is gonna outclass him and probably stop him. Walters is just too easy to hit.

Man, feels odd looking at this just a few days later. Talk about sabotaging your own career.

Is this how people felt when Duran pulled out of the Leonard fight, or did that feel different?

Before I go on I don't want to see fighters hurt, and don't hark for the days of yonder when fighters took frightening punishment before the referee stepped in.
However is it me or do fighters now seem all to happy to quit, and i'm not talking just Saturday with Walters which is a pretty extreme case.
Some of the stoppages now just seem ridiculous but the fighters seem happy to go along with it especially in the UK.

I really have to doubt the legitimacy of some of these contests that end in these circumstances.

Kell Brook against GGG. C'mon, really why was that fight stopped? A bit of swelling? And no protest from Brook.

Didn't he have broken bones in his face? His trainer knew he was slowing down a bit and that's not a good thing vs a buzz saw like puncher who's starting to get to his man.

By halting the match, Brock avoided physical and perhaps more importantly phycological damage.

This. They had a very small window to get Brook out before GGG ended his career.
