Exactly! People were demanding Canelo defend his belt at 160 lbs, now that he's no longer the champion, the doors are open for GGG if he wants the Canelo fight at 155 lbs.

"He's champion WBC at 160 pounds!"

Well no, so if you want the fight, negotiations go through Canelo Alvarez. :deal

It's possible he vacated to allow this fight to build up into a bigger pay day, still a ***** move, but money talks. The one problem with this theory is that there isn't really any big money fights he could take at the moment.

Vacated because he is a coward. Next he will keep fighting welterweights.

This has nothing to do with fear and all to do with hyping the Canelo/GGG fight for Sept 2017. If both continue to win, this fight will be huge by then and this has been DLH's plan all along.

Canelo is not afraid of GGG and anyone who believes that is clueless. Canelo knows his image has taken a huge hit but is smart enough realize that this is more than anything a business and that there will be a huge payoff(along with a major legacy boost if he wins) when the fight does take place and that in the end is more important than satisfying some haters who would find something else to criticize him for anyway.

For the umpteenth time, look for Canelo/GGG in 2017.

Canelo is as afraid of GGG at 160 as much as FLoyd was of Canelo at 154 and GGG afraid of Canelo at 155:deal

Floyd didn't vacate his belts to avoid Canelo . Now if Canelo agrees to the full 160 by the end of 2016 or may next year, I'll agree that he was not scared to fight at 160. Also Floyd is not a 154 pounder dummy LOL, Canelo weighs heavier than a lot of the MWs.

:rofl There you go,Trolling again. Making up excuses for Canelo & O$CAR's biggest mistake possible, cowardly surrendering the belt and slithering away into the sunset.

:p GGG is now the " A-Side" and will dictate terms if K2/GGG even consider fighting Canelo. My guess is they IGNORE Canelo & O$CAR, and let them wither away, slowly twisting in the wind.

    ^ This.

Canelo has no real options now while fighters are piling up to fight GGG. Alvarez is going to try drag up some midget like Pac or PBF if he though that they would take the deal. Otherwise he's got to fight a proper 160 guy. I think any of the top guys give him a hell of a fight and could actually beat him. If he loses at 160 after giving his belt away his star days are done, dusted.

He'd have to take on the big names and beat them decisively in order to show his class. Frankly I reckon a dude like Lemieux starches him.
