hard to say who i'd like to see do a chicken dance right through the rings ropes ktfo more, froyd, d garcia or khan. broner got his overdue humiliation to a degree. there's a few others but those clowns take the cake.
If the exact same thing happened to Garcia and had he lost the fight closely by points afterwards, as the OP I'd absolutely say "Garcia deserves a rematch". It's not about hating or loving, I simply appreciate great fighters, which in this case, both of them.
Why? Injuries are part of the game and some fighters try to create them, others hope for them, and is the only thing some fighters go for. When the name of the game is try and hurt your opponent it is not luck, and should not be treated as such when it happens. Sometimes a fighter wins by out hurting their a opponents individually in a round by round basis, and other times they are able to hurt their opponent in such a devastating fashion it leads to the win alone. ie. fight changing injury, KO, or full tilt shot they never recover from leading to TKO...those are all pretty much the same when you think about it. They change the game heavily in persons favor, difference is, one does it immediately, the other two over the course but those never guarantee the victory and in fact many opponents have come back and won after being on full tilt or having one eye.
Remember, the fight was scored (114-112,114-112, 115-111). And Garcia has been deducted merely 1 point for a total of 7 low blows - that's simply absurd. Moreover, the 11th round knockout which costed Matthyssee 2 points was a controversial one, Garcia pushed him to the ropes which left Mathhysse defenceless and without ref meddling in - Garcia threw 3 punches to make the knock down happen. I have nothing against Garcia but all in all, this wasn't a decisive fight as to show who was the superior fighter and a rematch would really be great.
I already said the case for a rematch is there, and it has nothing to do with low blows (which many were caused by Lucas pulling Danny's head down) an eye swelling or that somehow a push left Lucas defenseless or whatever other excuse there may be. Fact is, it was a close fight, and that was due to Lucas's boxing ability in combination with his power. I don't think Lucas's power will be a grave factor against Danny's granite chin but it does have the ability to win rounds. And, I don't think Lucas's boxing is as good as Danny's but combined with his power it, again, does put him in good position to always win a respectable amount of rounds and he could pull the victory...the evidence is there for that. It looks like you're trying to make the case that Lucas would've definitely won had it not been for this and that...there's no need for all the excuses when the case is inherently there, it is simply an exciting competitive fight, see, how hard is that?
I truly believe that fight took a lot out of both, and even though Danny won he probably had more taken out as shown in his recent fighter selection and performances. Doubt he wants to walk that cold and dark road the machine walks once again
Decent fight the first time around. A rematch we'd probably see twice as much pee pee slaps and hugging from Garcia. But I doubt Haymon Protective services will allow this (since Matthysse hasn't had much of a comeback and I doubt the money would be worth the risk atm). Garcia vs Berto would seem Haymonesque. But I haven't heard or seen anything about his next move (last I heard he's moving up to WW).
Garcia would win. Matthysse's punch resistance has gone down by a margin. Garcia may have degressed but he still has a good chin.
I didn't remember LM getting "unfairly disadvantaged" due to a "headbutt that opened a cut" I remember DG landing crushing left hooks are straight rights that blew up LM face like a ranchman. tell you the truth, I think it was a glancing shot that immediately that blew up LM eye almost immediately, unfair ? i'm lost with this unfair and fair nonsense. ANYTHING can and anything always does happen once that initial bell sounds for round 1, but I guess legal scoring blows and such don't matter when we are talking about fair and unfair nonsense i'm not sure how I would feel about this rematch, I think I need at least one more showing from each, Molina made LM crumble like a wet paper towel, smg that wouldn't ever be thought possible at 140 by not some killer either. I cant imagine of it was DG landing those 2 decent shots that floored LM, time will tell, and I think I need to see DG with sme at least at the pretender level, that last opponent served as a wasted training camp and a wasted fight..
I don't think Matthysse can knock out Garcia. The thing is with Matthysse. Unless he knocks you out he struggles to win a decision. So i always give Garcia a chance. If he's not koing you or doesn't score knockdowns he will struggle to get the decision.
yea I would like to see it again alot of people first time round said danny would be too scared to fight him ect but he proved alot of people wrong with how tough he is I would bet on lucas in the rematch though its a shame matthysse didnt win and not suffer his injury the hype would have gone into overdrive and im sure we would have seen Lucas take bigger fights since then compared to the B class fighters garcia has been matched with
