Opinions from mates who know nothing about boxing

Only the actual boxing fans that aren't interested in that fight anymore then.

 

One night I had the house to myself and ordered PPV. Around 9.00pm there was a knock on the door and my mate and his Mrs were there with a chinese for me. They wanted to watch the main event I cannot remember who it was. The undercard was on and my mate said something like why do you watch those skinny little wimpy boxers and tried to turn the TV over. I gave him 'the look'.

They ordered a cab and left

I had one div try to tell me that Naz would have beaten Lennox Lewis if they ever fought, I seriously thought about taking a swing at him, in the end walked off swearing and have never spoken to him since.

 

As I'm known as the one person in my group of mates that likes boxing I get stupid questions sometimes ""do you think Andrew Ward (yes that's what they said) could have beaten Tyson" etc.

 

I'm lucky ive got a few educated mates and my brother knows his shot, and my dad is quite good at calling a fight or stuff fighters do well or badly but couldn't name the top guys at the moment, but the Audley harrison david haye fight stopped me from talking boxing to a lot of people

"Audley harrison is a devastating puncher etc" , thing that passed me off is people like frank bruno getting on the album-force hype train

The most annoying assumption is that if you're not over 6ft, been to jail a few times and regularly get in fights down at your local then how can you like boxing? The assumption that to be able to enjoy boxing and know something about it you have to actually box and be 'ard'

None of my mates are that bad to be honest, one is bordering on being a *****, and another likes Kell Brook, but none of them take ******edness to another level.

Plus they all think Haye is a ****, so practically anything can be forgiven anyway. The campaign worked.

 

The campaign hasn't ended yet mate, there's a couple more chapters left in the book. :yep
