Get it right mate. It’s okay for the worlds best promoter ‘Eddie’ to put Stepien in a main event but not for Ben Shalom who’s not even 2 years into the world of promoting and started a stable from scratch.
Actually might ne interesting to compare Boxxers current stable with what Match room had 2 years in to their exclusive SKY deal
Sorry I worded it wrong. He paid $10m for Garcia to fight Vargas. 7 to Garcia, 3 to Vargas. In context, Garcia fought Spence for all the belts 9 months earlier and received $3m. And Trafford slags Boxxer off for overpaying haha.
Different times. Boxers at their peak were heading to Matchroom so Hearn didn't need to go looking for them. That gave him some cover to bring in the likes of Joshua, bring through Whyte, etc. The likes of Brook, Bellew, Crolla, Burns, the Smiths only really had one place to go. There was no real challenge from Warren while he was getting shot of BoxNation and no other competition worth the name, so it's hardly fair comparison. If it gets that far, perhaps measure Boxxer with 10 years of backing from Sky to Matchroom at the same stage.
I was literally just referring to the fact Matchroom overpaid on the US initially. Let’s face it Matchroom are in a strong spot. They are the only promoter with long term big money contracts in the US and UK he’s got funding and security. Top rank have limited time left to get a renewed desal and Boxxer have 2 years to turn it around or it wouldn’t surprise me if Sky go non exclusive and PPV only. He’s got Okolie and Buatsi plus CBS. Liam Smith has one fight left and expects a big one asap. If it’s not Eubank, Brook or a belt he’s not going to be a happy bunny. Having to constantly give tickets away is also going to keep hemorrhaging money. They announced a 17k sellout when it was confirmed as 11k of which less than 4k bought a ticket. Not ideal
There was more than 11k at Shields v Marshall. Just a blatant lie to suit your strange Matchroom obsession. No surprise to see DramaShow liking your comment either. I know you hate every promoter but Matchroom but I’d look at the crowds of Matchroom UK shows before slating others.
Just a wind up. Relax my man it’s Sunday. Would be interested why taffet would lie though given he wants the biggest payday for his client
Ah, I see. Come out with a lie and when someone calls it out just claim it’s a wind up. Do you make crowd attendances up all the time as a ‘wind up’? I’d get a new hobby if so.
Not a lie is it if it’s on Skys own website and was announced. This content is protected The attendance was announced as 11,784. The arena's lower bowl appeared more than half full while the upper bowl was curtained off. now back in your box kid
That’s clearly talking about last nights fight not Shields v Marshall The upper tier at Shields v Marshall was not closed off. See below, kid…
I agree with @ALN93 here and we know that Shields isn’t a ticket seller hence why the Marshall fight happened over here. Taffet and the whole Shields lot are as clueless now as they were almost 5 years ago when they turned down $1 million to box Laila Ali because Ali was getting 5 times as much. She has still not and never will earn anywhere near that amount of money per fight.
It's odd because as female boxers go, Shields was a bit of a revelation in that Marshall fight after appearing to have a huge chip on her shoulder beforehand. She was relatively entertaining in the build-up, almost making a mockery of the "win in the amateurs" Sky had been using to justify the fight; she actually did a ring walk worth seeing and got stuck into the fight from the first bell. How she doesn't sell tickets and the likes of Taylor (equally good boxer) or Benn (dislikable chip-on-shoulder type) do, is beyond me.
Following the conclusion of the agreement with DAZN, Matchroom Boxing has never been financially stronger than right now. When will it start to be reflected in the events you organise ?
