Gotta respect he has fulfilled his dream from being seen as the "runt of the litter" to being crowned champion in his hometown.

If CBS wins his next two fights against Okolie and Riakporhe, I expect Opetaia to be his final fight of his career if he loses.

I could see it happening, I dont know who he will fight next but its certainly one of the two. And CBS has a rematch clause against Okolie.

Its painful witnessing these talented fighters fight once every 18 months.

I'd love to see CBS get revenge on Riakporhe and have a go for undisputed ASAP but this rematch clause is a pain in the ass.

Nowhere as good as him but almost Holyfield vibes. So much respect for those type of fighters.

Ya I forgot about that rematch clause with Okoliepus, assume it has a time limit though because they fought in May 2023

    Thanks

Yeah, he's fun to watch and has already been involved in a whole bunch of wars. In fact, almost every fight at the British, European and world level for him has been a war with the exception of a few

As Opetaia said, he's a soldier and a tough B word and as you say he's a nice guy so both of those things make him easy to root for. But he's too easy to hit and the cumulative damage from all those wars is going to catch up to him soon so I'll be very surprised if he doesn't lose that title in his next few fights.

Opetaia definitely stops him and I can't see him beating Goulamirian or probably even the former opponent of the later Egorov.

If Breidis is still what he was when he fought Opetaia, which is a big if given his age and he was already faded back then as it is, he beats him too. I know he's sparred Briedis before though.

The Riakporhe rematch could go either way as Riakporhe is absolutely massive for the weight and hits really hard and even though both have improved CBS has been involved in many wars since their first meeting.

It sounds like I don't rate him but, as I said, I've actually been telling people for years that he's underrated. I thought he was good enough to make it to the world level but not actually good enough to become a champion. He even proved me wrong there and I'd love for him to do so again. His toughness, heart, power and will to win ensures he could beat a lot of the top 20 but he's also susceptible to losing to probably at least half a dozen of them too

In terms for how often he gets hit and the amount of wars he's already been in he's probably got the best chin in the division. I'm not saying it is better than the chins of Briedis, Opetaia, Masternak, Goulamirian, Mikaelyan etc. none of whom AFAIA have ever been down (and neither has CBS IMO) but he's in wars almost every fight and he probably gets hit more than all of them so his tough guy reputation has been earned the hard way even though he's been hurt a few times and some of those others haven't been.

And he has fought legit big punchers like Riakporhe and Okolie and been cracked on the chin by huge shots from them.

Unfortunately for him Opetaia will be hanging around at CW for a few more years so their paths are destined to cross providing CBS still holds that belt.

Shane McGuigan said from the footage he's seen of Okolie recently he's looking really big, like bigger than he usually does at walk around weight, and that there's a chance he might be moving up to HW judging fro m his size.

Somebody explain to me how this is a KD? It actually really irks me even now

Yes he was under the cosh for a brief period, getting caught by big shots, but he was weathering the assault and Riakporhe used his greater size and strength to shove him over.
