I personally was never impressed with Haugen he seemed like a journeyman talent with good timing

    Options?

An old time cutie who was tough as nails and had a HIGH boxing IQ.

    Super underrated.

I don't know about super underrated but he was definatley no journeyman.

He beat Jimmy Paul in a battle of counter punchers to win the IBF title. That was clearly his best win.

He should have gotten the decision in the first Pazienza fight.

he might have been a guy who benefitted from low expectations. When you saw him fight he didn't do anything great, but in the ring he was tough and could eek out wins and was decent. Chavez demolished him better than I ever thought he could. It was easy for Chavez, who was better than Haugen if every way. I think Haugen was a very good fighter.. Not a great or hall of fame, but decent.

A guy who did the best he could with what he had. Cetainly tougher than a Tijuana cab driver.

He was done by the time he fought JCC. His great wins, Paul, Camacho, Paz, Mancini, Jacobson... were all in the rearview mirror.

Very solid fighter, the first two fights against Pazienza are incredible and well worth a watch.

well the Mancini fight was just a year before Chavez. I think he would have lost to Chavez in 1990 or 1991. Chavez had him in every department and even looked bigger than Haugen. I thought Haugen would be bigger prior to the fight, and Chavez looked bigger in the ring.

Greg did so much with what he had to work with, Not the biggest, not the fastest, not the hardest puncher, yet he accomplished a lot. Very clever boxer.

    this ^^^

I think he was a great fighter, he didn't woo, like a Robinson, Leonard or Camacho, he was more a boxer/fighter - Gatti type, though he took less punishment. but I believe he was/is a great fighter worthy of all the accolades he gets!
