I've only seen him against Firat Arslan to conquer the WBA CW title, and he looked very good. High workrate, good body hooks, jab, tall but strong. The cruiserweight division has been crappy the last 15-20 years since Holyfield left, but right now it's becoming a very exciting division.

    Plus, his girlfriend is hot:

To my great astonishment he easily outboxed Arslan connecting with quite a few good shots in every rounds whereas he himself didnt have to take a single telling shot.
Jones showed a surprisingly convincing performance against a decent and good opponent.
As for the cruiser weight division at present it is one of the best weight divisions out there.Lots of good top fighters, rising shooting stars, gifted talents, and promising new names.

    Alexeev,Licina,Frenkel,Cunningham,Adamek,Huck,Hernandez,
    Banks,Macca,Wlodarczyk,Fragomeni,Kraj,Godfrey,Jones,Arslan,
    Tokarev,Brudov,Suda,Drozd,Monrose,Braithwaite,and so on.

Lets compare -for example-middle weight with cruiser: apart from Pavlik,AA,and STurm there is a huge emptiness.

Jones is the most skilled fighter at the weight. I thought that he went into Cunninghams back yard and beat him, but didnt get the dec. I think that Jones would beat Adamek, Cunningham and Enzo. So I guess Im saying that I think he is the best cruiserweight in the world.

I thought he lost to Cunningham, and he did...

That said, he looked like a new fighter against the big Turk.

I think he could beat Adamek with his long jab from the outside, and high workrate.

Cruiserweight I think is a good division, not great.

Adamek, Cunningham, Jones, Enzo/Banks are at the top...good not great.

Flores, Arlsan, Bell, Ding, Kraj, Godfrey, Kolodziej, Mormeck, Huck, Wlodarchyk, Brudov, and Tokarev are a fantastic core of contenders...that makes it a great division.

After that youve got the prospects, Alexeev, Frenkel, Batello...for the next gen.

On the whole the divison is very solid.

I think Adamek may pull in a different direction. He has fought all comers, even while holding a belt before. Now he has a lot of momentum and a big match up would make financial sense for any strong challenger. Adamek has a lot options to choose from and will likely go for the hardest challange. Cunningham was also a willing customer, but never had the right type of exposure to attract the biggest fighters. I think 2009 will be a great year for this division!

Guillermo Jones has always been one tough dude and is one of my favorite fighters in recent memory.

He was jobbed against Bouduani back in the day, dominated Nelson and was robbed, but finally has his belt. A big, rangy, awkward boxer who throws a lot of punches and can punch with power.

Jones is no joke, although time will eventually catch up with him.

Gee, that's the exact same thing they said before the Cunningham fight. And Cunnignham had an enourmous 8 inch reach advantage and could not manage to keep TA on the outside. Jones has only about an inch in arm length over Adamek.Adamek forced the slick and defenisvely tactical Cunnignham to fight his fight and will likely try to do that with Jones as well. Can Jones resist?

Also, I believe Adamek under performed a bit against Cunni, because Steve was a fast, moving target. Jones is slower, both on his feet and with his punches. Adamek was just about equal to USS in handspeed and will likely beat Jones to the punch. Anything can happen, but I think Jones would have to knock Adamek out to win this, which in itself is a tall order. I would love to see this fight happen though.

Yeah, he was incredibly skinny at 147, freakishly so.

In his first fight at Cruiser against then prospect Tim Williamson the announcers were wondering if he could come up that much in weight and be effective or have any power. The answer is yes and yes.

I like Jones, I've been impressed since he drew with Nelson a few years back, ever since i thought the guy would one day be champion, I reckon he'd beat Adamek, and i also thought he beat Cunningham.

The guy is a freak though, how the hell he managed to fight at welterweight is beyond me.

He did deserve to win the Nelson fight, but he certainly didnt dominate the fight.
