The following at light heavyweight: Gene Tunney Floyd Patterson Billy Conn Tunney and Patterson weren't finished products at light heavyweight, but were excellent at the weight class...and of coarse, it was Conn's prime class. How do you think the styles play out? And what adjustments do you think they would need to make against a very good boxer in Johnson? Thanks.
I love Johnson, .....and Tunney, Patterson and Conn as well....this kinda blows my mind...what a great thread question. I'll have to think about this one.
I think Johnson could beat all of them. Oddly the guy I give the best shot is Patterson because if Johnson had one weakness it was a mediocre chin, and Patterson could whack. I think the Tunney fight would resemble the Pastrano fight, except a younger, busier Johnson would get more work done. Conn Is Fascinating; maybe it would be like a more frenetic version of the Charles fight.
I can see all these guys potentially exchanging decisions...lots of rematches. They're all so damned good.
Ill give it a shot. Patterson-I think Johnson stops him late after having to pick himself off the canvas. Tunney-Johnson wins decision. Conn-This is interesting match up.I say Conn wins a close decision with Johnson having his moments.
