I enjoyed the fight. It was close. I don't/can't score a fight when watching it live but even I know that one of the judges' scorecards was wide (118-110). Who did you guys have winning?
This is the best I ever saw Quintero perform but still came up short. Vasquez is a slick fighter but lacks that power to get respect, but I do like his combinations. I had the fight tight untill the last three round where I saw Vasquez take the lead.
I thought it was a pretty boring fight for the most part with a disappointing performance from Vasquez(though I did think he won) and a good effort from Quintero. Vasquez is a mover but he usually at least makes some effort to sit down on his punches, in this fight he was moving away while punching a lot trying to avoid engaging with Quintero at all for about 2/3rds of the fight. Quintero gave a good effort pressuring Vasquez but didn't throw enough punches in general early, he started catching Vasquez effectively in the middle rounds though. In the championship rounds, Vasquez finally started to establish a lead, standing his ground at his range and landing some solid shots, doing enough to get the nod on my card. That said, it was not an impressive performance at all.
Vasquez was quite unimpressive for a "champion" with his experience. Don't know how in heck he beat Prescott, and lasted on his feet twice with Canelo. Must have run all fight. No comment on Quintero because it seems he was in there as an opponent, with almost no chance of getting a decision. Vasquez must be better than he looked tonight. Otherwise, he has no hope against Broner or Demarco. Actually, he's quite lucky as it seems he's associated with Arum, so not likely to meet Broner any time soon. Broner breaks that dude in half.
7-5 Quintero 7-5 either way is good scoring. Boring fight. If it was anyone's "fault" for being boring, it was 100% on Vazquez. One of the finest examples of too much movement, and later on in the fight slapping too, for my liking. I was disappointed in Vazquez. I'll tell you one thing; he's clearly below DeMarco and Burns at LW, and either of those guys comfortably beats him, in my opinion.
Obviously it wasn't Vasquez's night. I've never seen him doing that bad. He outboxed Prescott and Kim pretty easily and in my opinion those guys are better boxer/brawlers than Quintero. Quintero fought a good fight but honestly I didn't see anything special in his work so I have no clue why it was such a difficult night for a champion. Maybe it was just offnight or something.. Vasquez was very unimpressive.
I had it 114-114. I can't see how anyone could give Vasquez the 12th round. The only other time I've seen Vazquez is when he fought Prescott, and he didn't look to bad. He moved, but not as much as last night. He looked really sluggish last night and I don't care to see him again. I have only seen Quintero about three or four times. He won one impressively on Showbox a few years ago and then lost to someone by KO. I just think he will always come up short when he faces the division's top dogs. I'd watch him again only because he comes to fight. Whether to KO someone or be knocked out, he won't stink up the joint like Vazquez.
LOL Yes, the fight was boring. If anybody enjoyed that, I must commend you for sitting through 48 minutes of ****.
