1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Juan Manuel Marquez 3. Bernard Hopkins 4. Israel Vasquez 5. Ivan Calderon 6. Shane Mosley 7. Vic Darchinyan 8. Juan Manuel Lopez 9. Paul Williams 0. Ricky Hatton - Included Lopez based on two 1st round blowouts over top notch fighters. - Included Hatton because he is coming off a domination over Paulie. - Have Williams at 9 because he is moving up and staying consistent. - Have Calderon high because he is consistent and dominating his weight class. - Left out Rafael Marquez because he is coming off two defeats - Left out Cotto because he is coming off a defeat to a man who was just doubled over.
cotto>hatton...cotto doesnt lose that fight..the fight should be no contest.. cotto> PW i hope you put donaire is the top 12 so you could justify VD being ranked #7
What?I don't understand why you made that thread about Hatton not doing enough since being stopped by FM then use his win over PM to justify his inclusion:huh:huh:huh Please explain this to me.Thanks
I don't undrestand the reasons for people posting Williams in their top 10 lists. Miguel Cotto should be there in his place.
I decided to take a different approach to this list. This isn't neccesarily my list, but I thought I would go into a list with just recent accomplishments and recent form. I don't think including Lopez is as ridiculous as including Rafa. Lopez blew out Ponce in 1 round to win the title. You shouldn't be blowing out guys like De Leon, but he did that, only to follow up another 1st round knockout over a good opponent. I think he has a case. I got rid of Cotto because he is coming off a crushing defeat, and his stock went down slightly with Margarito just being destroyed himself. The hand-wrapping thing does not vindicate Cotto at all.
He KO'd darchinyan...vic win over mijares is just as good as donaire's win over darchinyan.. as far as arce goes, arce has never been a top 10 fighter at 115
OK fair enough. Not sure about Lopez.I think you have him a bit too high in that list though he has a case like you rightly say.If Cotto isn't in the top 10 then it is right to leave Rafa out aswell, atleast thats consistent if thats your way of thinking here.
They are the same thing, in my opinion. Who have you beaten lately is the same as what you have accomplished lately. When I say "accomplishments" I'm not necessarily talking about belts. However, in Williams case, he is moving up and knocking out his opponents. Sure, Phillips ain't nothing special, but he beat Quintana and Margarito at 147 also, two solid fighters.
I'm not sure how you can have Izzy at #4, then kick the guy he went to war with three times to get there completely off of the list. Williams and Lopez are both great fighters, but aren't P4P entrants yet. Calderon isn't top 5. I can see debuting Vic, although some would still say it's too soon.
in terms of accomplishment izzy is way higher than rafa...but in recent form they are almost equal...i have no problem with cotto, you explained that very well...
Likewise, I cannot see how a fighter coming off two consecutive defeats should be considered among the best 10 fighters in the world. If he is truely deserving of that distinction, he will redeem himself in his next fight and prove me wrong. On that basis, I think having fighters on the up like Lopez and Williams makes far more sense.
