At the end of the day, it was Izzy who came out of the trilogy with the two victories - and therefore he should be held in higher esteem. Let's not get, Marquez was stopped in fight 2, and was very nearly stopped in the final fight. He is effectively coming off two defeats, and I don't think that should be the case for a top 10 fighter. I do see your point, however.
PW hasn't had the chance to prove that he is top 10 in the world as yet.I'm not sure whether a win over Winky will satisfy his detractors either,it depends on how both men perform
I'm of the opinion that Lopez does not blow out Marquez or Vasquez, even the versions that exist now. Ponce had power, but he showed against Penalosa that he lacked boxing ability. Vasquez do not lack ability, and would surely land on Lopez at some point, a fighter who has not been proven to have punch resistance. It would be a great fight, but without sitting on the fence, I see Marquez having a lot of trouble taking full blooded shots from Lopez.
Too soon??? What does he have to do, unify the bantamweight division before people start including him in their top 10??? Pleaaaaaassssseeeeee. atsch
i always viewed p4p as recent form, who would beat who.. that being said, i put jmm over bhop.. and izzy, rafa and lopez in equal grounds because if they fight today, that fight could go either way.. same goes for VD and Donaire..but i put VD higher because im still not sure that Donaire would beat mijares.. i still put pav and taylor ahead of abraham bec i feel that those two would easily beat abraham... as far as cotto-mosley goes, they are also in equal grounds..truly, cotto was not suppose to lose against margo, but he is still at par with mosley...
People may take his loss into consideration. If you think that and you have Hatton in the list, would you include Hatton if he lost to Paulie then beat him convincingly in the rematch,in the same way PW avenged the CQ loss?
I have no arguement on how you determine a P4P list. By the same token, I put no stock in the "who would beat who", and prefer to make my list based on what they actually proved in the ring. Vasquez proved he is a top 10 fighter and Marquez isn't, by going 2-1 in the trilogy, almost stopping Marquez both times. Calderon deserves a high spot because whilst all the fighters around him have experianced losses, he has been dominating his respective weight class. He should not be punished for being a small guy, his skillset alone and the manner of his victories is enough to include him amongst the best fighters in the world. Williams does not get the recognition he deserves. He beat Margarito, he vindicated his loss to Quintana in 1 round, and he has moved up in weight twice sporting two knockout wins. He is there somewhere. In any event, this list did not include any fighters coming off losses.
ive seen his fight with hawk makepula..but i checked that darchinyan-pacheco is not recent anymore..that happened almost 5 years ago...recent in boxing means 3 years ago..
I have Williams in the list for a number of reasons, not because he beat Quintana in 1 round. He has moved up to higher weights and stopped his opponents. It is one thing to keep on winning, but he is dealing with these guys easily. Let's not forget his win over Margarito, a better win than Paulie M. in my opinion. To answer your question, I wouldn't. Williams has the Margarito win and his success at Middleweight to fall back on. Hatton has the Lazcano win, which proved to be a struggle for him. Williams has been more consistent and that is my point.
so bhop and jmm after their losses earlier this year is out of your top 10? why did they jump that high with wins over pav and casa?
