I thought Marquez beat Pacquiao, and being the first man to stop Casamayor above his natural weight is enough to keep him there. Hopkins arguably beat Calzaghe and put on a shutout against the new up and coming star of the Middleweight division. There is circumstances. Cotto was stopped in brutal fashion, Rafa was almost stopped, and had been stopped in the fight previously to that. Marquez lost a razor thin SD against the P4P number 1, and Hopkins lost a razor thin decision to P4P rated Calzaghe (at the time) and posed a shut out against P4P rated Pavlik (at the time). Exceptions to the rule, but Cotto and Rafa do not qualify.
There's still way, way more reason to have Cotto and Rafa Marquez in the top 10 than Vic. Relax. He beats Montiel, he's in.
I understand your reasoning but I could also understand why people would leave him out of their list. What weight is the Winky fight at btw?I am assuming 160
had not for the loaded gloves, cotto wont be hurt by margarito's punches. look at the KO ratio of margarito in his fights before 2005..he is not a good puncher in his early fights...but then again, if mosley toyed margarito, catto should also do that... rafael marquez loss in a split decision to vasquez...boxing has no round 13. take it what it is..the marquez brothers lost to top five p4p ighters bec the kissed the canvas.. i would like to ask you how did you score the fight of vazquez-marquez iii?
I did not bother to make an official scorecard, but I thought Izzy took over in the second half of the fight, and should have been up by at least 2 points after the knockdown. Round 12 could have been a 10-7. Don't give me that bull**** because of the loaded gloves. I do not buy it. Cotto lost the fight because he was taken out of his comfort zone, not because he was being hit with loaded gloves.
^^^i have no issues with cotto... one last question..how do you think lopez-marquez would turn out..assuming ofcourse that both are in top form
i hate calderon but it's hard to argue..even if he battles solis..i think calderon would still be 2-1 favorite
How he manages to climg in the top pound for pound list is still beyond me. He's never won a match since early 2007. Should it matter much that he won against Vazquez? I don't think so. I mean.. common, it was almost 2 years ago.
Lopez is inexperienced, and has never fought a fighter with the technical ability and power of prime Rafa. On that basis, I think he would struggle to deal with Rafa's combination of skill and power, and therefore would probably be taken late or lose a UD. Depends on entirely how well Marquez takes Lopez power.
thanks man..i just want izzy and rafa to lose their being elite status to the man that deserve to take over...i put lopez in my top 11. he could enter top 10 after the penalosa fight
I'm very excited for the Penalosa fight. I love Gerry, and I could see him posing problems for Lopez. Gerry does not get hit flush very often.
Not a huge fan of Minimumweight's either but these guys are tiny and to make them fight in higher weight classes would be a bit Harsh.
im love gerry to the fullest...but it's hard to go against lopez in puerto rico.. if the fight happened in US, i may bet 200 box for the underdog
