Boxxer doing a show Jan 20. Natasha Jonas will fight Mikaela Mayer on it.

Great fight. I have to back Mayer in that one.

Bellew looking like he’s going to the jungle. Hopefully MR have some decent fights whilst he is there so we don’t need to listen to him

I genuinely hate Shaloms production so far

Consists of DJ's and mood killing live proformances

Big Mo is an upgrade on the initial MC

I was more than willing to give the promotion a chance but spending that dough on Okolie was stupid

He then followed that up with signing captain Holiday in Buatsi

    What a waste

But it felt like he controlled the production back on Sky as well really. The coverage was bordering on sycophancy at times - Woolhouse, Smith and Scott in particular seemed to enjoy ‘being along for the ride’ and the jollies to New York, Vegas and Saudi rather than covering the sport as credible journalists.

It all tailed off a bit towards the end when Sky realised Hearn was off, but I don’t think DAZN’s coverage is particularly any more MR-biased (Bellew aside) than the ‘peak’ of the Sky days, even though they actually control production now.

Such a platform and he is a deer under the headlights. I still wish MR had that platform, it was a good fit for me.

Matchroom and Sky got the balance of appealing to both boxing fans and casuals right. That Sky era from 2014-2020 was great.

Yeah it was a great time for UK boxing, felt like it was on the mainstream. Hearn does have the gift of the gab and is great at selling a fight and MR and Sky bounced off each other

Yeh Hearn's a great seller and the production was a lot better then but ppv non-fights weren't as special as some people make out.

Obviously the BBBofC circular seems to have put paid to this - most likely Cullen-Chelli II in Liverpool Jan 20th instead? Wonder if they'll reschedule Simpson against Germaine Brown for the third fight on that card. Would make sense to build the fight with the winner of the British title fight.

Imo the dazn coverage is far worse than the Sky days. All platforms have levelled down since the move to dazn but least of all BT/ tnt.
Dazn coverage is at the point of insufferable for me now, its insulting to anyone with the least of interest in boxing and the lines are drawing closer to wwe imo.
Bellew, barker & Co even to fight commentators, pundits and plaudits.
Andy Lee is a good example here. Go back 5 Yr or so and we all liked his input but of late he's another employee that tows the party line

I totally agree. Boxxer / Sky chooses to spend way to much money on 2 boxers that no one cares to watch...? I don´t understand it.

Because they needed headliners. Okolie was a world champion and Boxxer already had Billam-Smith, Chamberlain, Riakporhe and Lawal. Buatsi signing meant they could make Buatsi vs Azeez and they probably thought he could pick up a vacant title when they become vacant.

Decent start to 2024 by the looks of it for Sky.

    Jan 13 - Beterbiev v Smith
    Jan 20 - Jonas v Meyer
    Feb 3 - Buatsi v Azeez

Boxxer wanted Jan 13 for Buatsi v Azeez but Azeez’s trainer will be in Canada with Callum Smith.
