Oquendo now says in his last fight against Tamayo he suffered a minor injury on his left hand and isn't willing to fight if he's not 100%. My guess is he finally watched some film on Vasyl and shamefully ducks a guy making his debut, couldnt even wait to get into the ring before taking a knee. Who the hell will Vasyl fight now. :fire

Maybe the injury is legit. If not, that's pretty sad that he would duck a guy in his debut no matter how good he was as an amateur

He had no problem taking the fight and no mention of it until now, what changed?

The risk is too big if you look at the reward.

So when Europeans use an injury as an excuse, the injury isn´t doubted (Vitaly-Chisora, Vitaly-Byrd, Helenius-Chisora), when non Europeans claim an injury, they´re lying. :huh

Oquendo said he was fighting Lomachenko after that fight/after he received the injury and was implying that Lomachenko is out of his mind to face a fighter like him in his debut.
Now he's saying "ouch my hand is going to stop me training for one to two weeks and I'm going to have to be 100% to fight, I want to be a world champion".
What happened is that he got round to looking at footage of this guy who wants to fight him for his pro debut and he's shat his pants, he knows he's not going to beat him and that he'll be set far back on his quest to win a championship belt if the guy making his pro debut towels him up.
I don't blame him really but it sucks for Lomachenko.

It'll be someone else then, there's still time and a large choice available.

Why fight an unrated with no pro fights, that,s a huge risk and if He manage to lose to 0-0 guy His career will suffer a lot. Good move by Oquendo, He will get rated by the WBO fighting bums in PR.

Because that 0-0 guy is an amateur phenom who only lost once in 5-6 championship tournaments?

Oquendo is wise not to take this fight, he'd probably get trashed by a professional novice, something that won't do wonders for his career.
