George Green aka Young Corbett I (the original) was a west coast fighter from San Francisco who admired James J Corbett & hence claimed the name Corbett. He claimed the Welterweight title after beating Billy Smith in 1897 & defended that claim against Charlie McKeever (according to boxrec).

Toledo Commercial RBR Vs Smith 1 - http://www.boxinggyms.com/news/corbett_fitzsimmons1897/smith_green1897.htm

He fought Tom Tracey Australian World Titlist x 2, Danny Needham - Prominent fighter who fought for the Vacant Welterweight Title, Owen Ziegler - Lightweight Title Challenger x 2, Mysterious Billy Smith - Welterweight Champion x 2, Barbados Joe Walcott - Welterweight Champion & Tommy Ryan - Welterweight & Middleweight Champion x 3 among others.

In this article it states he lost his claim to that title in his defeat by Tommy Ryan but according to boxrec this was for Ryan's Middleweight claim. CBZ doesn't recognise any fight for a title. Anyways I thought it might be appreciated by fans of old time boxing.

Nice work. He's the one Young Corbett that I haven't done much research into.
