Ad first I was saying that I thought it would be better that cotto win because more big time fights could be made off of it.... but now that I think about it... the cotto win puts the welter weight division on lock in a way.... becuase now everyone is just going to be chasing pacman or floyd instead of fighting for true superiority

    shane chasing floyd
    cotto chasing pac

when in reality although these guys have fought one another already... the level of competition is so close that I'd rather see clottey get a crack at shane... or a rematch of shane vs cotto... and maybe even through berto in the mix...

then let floyd jmm & pac handle their business....I just hate the fact that the welterweight division is froze up because shane & cotto are waiting for cracks at pacman or floyd.... I wish they could settle it the other way

All that will be ignored. Pac can go on to fight Cotto, Mayweather fights Marquez and the winners meet. Mosley is screwed in this situation.

Isn't Floyd a WW though? It makes sense for WW's to chase Floyd since he IS in that division and he DID retire as the king of that division.

    How is it frozen?

    Isn't Floyd a weltwerweight(altough he's fighting a lightweight)?

If Pacquiao comes up to welterweight again fine with me.

good post. i'm really tired of the elites chasing the big money/high recognition fights. the fights that should be made now are ones within the WW division such as mosley, cotto, berto, clottey, PW, collazo. any fight between any of those guys i would rather see that getting mayweather or pac involved. those two NEED to fight eachother. if not, i would love to see mayweather actually fight an elite WW.

shane needs to fight PW so that Shane is taken out of the equation. Then PW can move back up in weight because none of the other welterweights (beside Clottey maybe) are gonna fight him because they aren't desperate for fights like Shane is.

yeah but we both know floyd isnt going to be in the mix like that

its frozen in the sense that ... clottey, paul williams & berto are on the outside looking in and probably wont ever get to fight cotto unless he loses soon

and you and me both know floyd isnt going to be fighting those guys left and right like that

Why do Clottey,Williams(who ain't a welterweight) and Berto need to fight Cotto?

Btw Berto ain't fighting either of thse guys,DiBella is just protecting him.

We may know it but fighters are deluded creates to say the least.

As for guys like Clottey, Paul Williams and Berto being on the outside looking in, there's a way to fix that.

FIGHT one another, make a name for yourselves and then the doors will open. IT's what Margarito did.

What's stopping Berto vs Williams or Berto vs Clottey or Berto vs Cintron from going down?

I mean there's a vacant belt right now, why aren't those guys trying to grab it? Build something and they will come as the saying goes.

He can still find random fights like those but at this stage I don't think he's interested. He's getting older and only wants the major fights.

Dibella said he's not ready and i dont even have a problem with it because he's not... but still

I mean its not so much about them 3 fighting cotto.... but them 3 being on a even playing field

    its like

    you have
berto/clottey/pw>trying to fight cotto & shane>trying to fight floyd & pac

and none of the guys who are classified separately are likely to fight.. cept cotto & pac which is probably somewhat due to floyds injurry..

it just delays a great class of fighters from seeing & fighting each other.. although cotto has pretty much fought them all already... i really want to see a clottey rematch which will probabl never happen

yeah but none of these guys are really trying to fight williams
di bella would only let berto fight shane or cotto
its just this big carrosel of what if's and ****.... everyone is chasing these big ass fights... thats why i wish now looking back on it that cotto lost.... then all the big fights would be out of the question and the welterweight division would be on even keel

now it will be delayed for like 1 or 2 years because cotto is going to be chasing pac & floyd... if cotto beats pac ...

So why is it Cotto or Mosley's fault that Dibella, Williams and Arum are ****ing things up in the WW scene?

I mean your thread is blaming Cotto and Mosley for the ineptitude of guys like Williams, Berto and Clottey. I'm pissed that the WW situation is all ****ed up as well but let's spread the blame around.
