how did the speedbag become apart of the training regiment and who came up with it? there are conflicting stories, but the most sighted is that John L Sullivan was the one who created it and he came up with the idea after picking up an american football..then modeling the speedbag on it, this is given more credence by the fact that the first speedbag used was found on sullivans gym which was like a retreat similar to the place Ali had in deer lake, John L Sullivans training HQ only survived because it was on a church yard therefore being protected from ruin and all his equipment still remains.
