No, Orlando came a few years later. defeating Kelvin Seabrooks a few years later to win the Bantamweight Championship.
No you are thinking of his brother Gaby, who Jeff decisioned. This is a tough one have to think about this one:huh:huh:think
My gut instinct would be Canizales without thinking it through too much. Chandler was a good all arounder, but he never did anything for me.
There were two version of Chandler. Funny but true. His in ring prowess can be paralleled with his haircuts. Early in his title reign he had kind of a crew cut. He was a little more disciplined and on top of his game. He beat guys like Lujan, Solis, Murata, and Johnny Carter. I'd give this Chandler the edge against Canizales. Then Chandler a Jeri curl type haircut and reportedly got in to drugs also. He lost a non-title effort to Oscar Muniz and then lost the title to Richie Sandoval. I think Canizales could potentially stop this version of Chandler. I think prime Chandler gets a little underrated. He wasn't as aesthetically pleasing as Canizales but he was very effective. He had a large wingspan for a Bantamweight but was by no means fragile. He had a good punch and could mix it up on the inside and get rough if necessary. I think all in all he fought a higher level of competition than Canizales.
I agree that Chandler gets underrated here, it is especially surprising that many fans of the little guys hardly mention him. Chandler was very highly regarded when he was fighting and was always mentioned on PFP list, in a time when there were some Well known Legends fighting. Many thought he was better than Pintor, were as know it seems like Pintor is more highly regarded.
Shame that fight never happened. I personally would've picked Chandler over Pintor, but I think it's razor close and I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone taking Pintor. That's a real tossup IMO.
Yey I agree, i think i might take Chandler by a decision, but would be surprised if Pintor pulled it out.
p.s. In my opinion, had Pintor and Chandler fought, the winner maybe gets a mention in that upper echelon of Bantamweights that we have so much respect for.
I think Pintor and Canizales run in to the same difficulty with Chandler. Chandler's height and reach presents problems. If he controls that distance and keeps it from becoming a war they have a hard time getting a decision against Chandler. And I'd lean against either of them stopping him (although it's possible).
Okay, I actually remember the time those two fought, thanks.:good Yeah, I actually was thinking about Gaby, I saw that fight years ago, thanks.:good I think Jeff could probably beat Orlando in a very tough fight. That Haircut analogy was right on point by Natonic.
I think Chandler could use his jab to good effect, he's best doing just that and trying to offset Canizales' great usage of angles which set up both his heavy artillery and point scoring stuff. I reckon Canizales could adapt though and outowork his man, for a decision.
