What's the story with Berrio? I'm not familiar with him outside of this bout. The ability of some of these South American guys with thin resumes surprises me occasionally.

All the moreso because the usual trope from south of Chiapas is "pretty record with a high KO % that doesn't stand to a scratch test beneath the surface".

Israel Contreras was a legitimately talented fighter out of Venezuela who was a truly evil puncher despite not having a abundance of great names on his resume, as is the tradition down there.

Late in his career he sparked Wilfredo Vasquez out cold in one round at 122, then dropped to 118 to take on bantamweight champion Luisito Espinosa in Luisito's backyard. Contreras would have to get off the top twice before icing Espinosa too. Super exciting fighter.
