Between these 2 talented Bantamweight who would you favor in their primes? Canizales has the edge in offense while Lora's defense gives him the edge. I think Canizales outworks and possibly KO's Lora much like what Gaby did, only it would be in the later rounds.
I reckon Lora was the superior fighter. He may be vulnerable to the power Canziles could produce but more often than not I think he outboxes Orlando to a clear point wins.
Canizales is better overall, Lora is a better defensive fighter, but that's all the edge I would give to Lora (other than maybe size). Canizales is more athletic, offensively he's better and also in other areas and he himself has pretty good defense as well.
Lora has that speed that would play a factor .But Canizales has that power that could erase the speed and hes got the skills to land with it . But then again Lora has the defense to take the power away or at least limit it. Id go with Lora but wouldnt put money on it. Great match up.
Canizales might have the ability and skillset to open Lora up and win the fight, but Lora was light-years better than anyone Canizales beat; the level of workrate, fire and determination he'd need to put forth may well be more than he had in him. You sometimes get the impression that he was too nice to be in a boxing ring. Who knows. Lora might have been the type of opponent to make pull his finger out of his arse. Lora beat better fighters imo despite not having as long a reign. Even against a skilled physical beast with freakish height like Perez, I felt he ended up losing more through fatigue late on from being weight-drained than anything else. He could be lazy himself though, falling back into a pattern of too much posturing and defensive showboating, similar to Locche. Hard fight to call. I'm thinking Lora on points despite feeling that Canizales should win.
Two guys with the ability to compete with any Bantamweight. Both were just missing that little bit extra that would’ve led to greatness. Well, Orlando was missing it. Lora just ignored it because he was too cool.
Bump Probably as good of a technical match up as you'll see between these two. I still think Canizales can beat Lora but definitely won't be an easy walk in the park by any means.
