    Fiordigiglio looks mean.

...and like he was chewing peanut brittle and it got stuck, the way he is working his jaw. :blood

    Round 1

Fiordigiglio is stalking, using a shrugging feint with a shimmy of his left shoulder to get Del Rio trotting laterally away, looking to line him up for a right hand. Fiordigiglio jabs Del Rio into a corner. Del Rio holds out his gloves to bat at Fiordigiglio's jabs, meeting them halfway in 90° like the paddles of a pinball machine. Del Rio quickly scampers out from the corner and tries a left hook downstairs. Fiordigiglio keeps moving forward, turned so that his left flank and bicep are facing Del Rio, pumping slow but strong jabs at him. Clinch. Rabbit punches traded. Both warned. Del Rio got the worst of it from the heavy-handed Fiordigiglio. Del Rio is circling away, tossing a wide left hook as he breaks into a gallop diagonally back and to his left, grazing Fiordigiglio. Del Rio is conga-drummed into a corner, Fiordigiglio dropping heavy leather on him in a steady, insistent beat - not too quick of hand but pacing himself without giving Del Rio any breaks1and taking aim well.

    10-9 Fiordigiglio

    Round 2

Fiordigiglio is jabbing Del Rio at mid-range. Del Rio is popping light right jabs as he dances in and out of range, then drifts out to his left, bobbing. Fiordigiglio is leading with powerful left hooks. Del Rio quickly raises his goal posts and manages to block the hook but is rocked aside by its brunt force. Del Rio is dancing across the ring in arrhythmic fashion but can't shake his tail. Fiordigiglio drops a Gene Krupa fill on Del Rio against the ropes. Del Rio weathers it. Del Rio circles away, but Fiordigiglio stays with him. Double jab and corkscrew right on the body by Fiordigiglio as Del Rio skates by the ropes. Del Rio loops a left as hard as he can to buy himself freedom. Bad gamble. Big left hook by Fiordigiglio, given a clear path as Del Rio had lowered his right glove to wind up his own left. Del Rio connects first but is clipped on the gob by Fiordigiglio's shorter and harder left...and down hard!

    KO2!!

Big statement by Fiordigiglio. His previous two defenses of the European Boxing Union 154lbs title (and best two wins to date, heading in) were over guys with poor chins in Castellucci and Varon. Del Rio is a tough, clever, skilled boxer - albeit naturally a welterweight. Smashing him in 4-5 minutes is pretty impressive.

Goddamn I had to do something and I figured this would at least come close to going the distance and I'd check in later. And its over.:patsch

I knew I saw something special in Fiordigiglio.

Beg pardon, Fiordigiglio's title is actually the lesser-regarded EBU-EU (European Union) title - basically the Euro belt Lite.

Fiordigiglio is 30 and should probably start to step up now if he wants to achieve much beyond this level. I would actually give him a very good chance at beating the current light middleweight Euro champ, "Golden" Jack Culcay. Fiordigiglio is almost like a bigger, stronger version of Culcay. :think

I'd have been impressed enough with a comfortably wide and non-controversial decision over JDR. To walk him down and knock him out in 2...wow.

I expected a mid round KO, but certainly not an early one
