Certainly doesn't deserve it in my mind but by current standards having Arturo Gatti and Primo Carnera in, all bets are off. "Two wrongs don't make a right," however, so I'd say a loud no.

don't get me wrong, I agree with you that gatti could never get in the HOF based purely on his boxing credentials alone. though in hindsight (and considering how hard it is to watch gatti fights now knowing what effect they had on him), he should have lost his boxing license IMO because of his total disregard for his own protection

Im going to say yes.... why? Because he gave the sport legitimate fight of the year battles time and time and time again. Add on top of that a great win over Loma, a good win over guerrero, ok wins over Lopez and others, and Im going to say that I think he could sneak in on todays standards.

I know two wrongs dont make a right but.... The Loma victory is better than anything Gatti has, and hes been in almost as many (if not as many) great fights.

Fight of the years have to count for something. Its the hall of fame, not the hall of greats. I think significantly noteworthy fighters should be able to get in.

At one hand I dislike Salido for a lot of his antics (steroids, fouling, weightcheating) and ducking the Loma rematch, but he is a clear hall of famer.
Not on pure talent but he ticks a lot of the boxes when it comes to his career. He has been in multiple fights, rounds and upsets of the year, or at least candidates.
He's also a 2 weight champion and multiple champion and has a couple of very good names on his resume including that one win over a green Lomachenko, no matter how shifty the circumstances.

Hall Of Fame isn't just about accomplishments. It's about fighters that left a mark on the sport, and nobody can deny he did that. Some are stains, some are gold stars.

This is exactly my issue with Gatti being in the HOF. Call me old school or a stickler, but I believe entry into the HOF should be based primarily on boxing achievements.

I remember a young Gatti being a responsible boxer puncher. I believe his mentality changed with the Wilson Rodriguez fight. He had a tendency to gain a lot of weight between fights and it negatively impacted his energy levels at his lighter weights. As a result, he took lots of punishment by sacrificing defense in hopes of landing a fight altering shot.

People like to use Gatti’s popularity to defend his inclusion in the HOF. However, he was not really all that popular. Case in point, he served as the B-side in his PPV fights with Oscar and Floyd. You and I both know that NOBODY expected him to win those those fights. In fact, LOTS of fans accurately predicted the thrashing he received. PLUS detractors of Oscar and Floyd point to Gatti as a blatant cherry pick when examining their records. Gatti was not a PPV fighter on his own merit. Again, the convicted racist Mark Wahlburg’s love of all things Boston/New England resulted in the movie about Micky Ward and contributed to Gatti’s profile.

On the basis of excitement, when can we expect induction ceremonies for Julian Jackson, Nigel Benn, Rafael Marquez, Israel Vazquez, Diego Corrales, and other blood and guts warriors?

Seriously, let's just induct EVERYBODY. You won an alphabet belt? You're in!! The standards of this boxing "Hall of Fame" are a JOKE. And those of modern boxing fans don't seem to be much above this abysmally low standard.

Only the best of the best should be a Hall of Fame. Period.
