Arroyo is circling and catching Maldonado with the right hand. Body shots by Arroyo. Maldonado tries to worm his way in throwing uppercuts. Jabs to the face by Arroyo, several of them. More body shots, and a right hand by Arroyo. Maldonado pushes his way in and ties up. Maldonado is thrusting out left jabs from outside, boxing in the orthodox stance again. Arroyo is countering him with everything but the kitchen sink.

Round 5

Arroyo is landing grazing jabs (and missing a good few) while circling left, and stuffing rights to the chest as Maldonado advances on him. Wild overhand rights by Maldonado crash onto the gloves and shoulders of Arroyo. Nice body shots are peppered in by Arroyo here and there, but always threatening first and foremost with his straight fast flurries to make Maldonado dive low and tuck his chin resulting in tie-ups. Maldonado turns southpaw and tries to right-jab his way in, but Arroyo remains always a step ahead of him.

Round 6

BIG RIGHT HAND by Arroyo, freezing Maldonado in his tracks. Wild right lobbed up from a lean-over by Maldonado. All of Maldonado's shots are being lobbed in off-balance and willy-nilly. Arroyo is dancing away, barely needing to exert himself to defend masterfully. NICE COUNTER COMBOS BY ARROYO!! HOOKS AND SHORT RIGHTS TO THE FACE AS MALDONADO WINGS SHOTS AT HIM!! DAMN, HE JUST SLICED UP MALDONADO'S FACE!! BADLY CUT BY PUNCHES!!! HIS EYELID IS RIPPED OFF!! YUCK!!! RAW RED GAPING FLESH AROUND MALDONADO'S RIGHT EYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :barf Arroyo hits him some more. Finally the ref interrupts the action to have a doctor look at it. OK, it's not QUITE as bad as it looked but it's very very bad. A huge tear high on his cheek below the right eye, about the size of a silver dollar in diameter. Time in. Arroyo targets the cut, ruthlessly, intelligently. Jabs to the right cheek by Arroyo. Maldonado keeps swinging his way in with wide right hands. Arroyo steps back, blocks, throws accurate jabs at the cut.
