Round 1

Arroyo is popping the right jab, staying a bit out of range. Nichol is pressuring confidently with his own high right jabs and left crosses shooting the gap. Arroyo backs up to the ropes and Nichol unloads on him with several slapping shots. Nice quick straight left to the body by Arroyo. Pinpoint right jab to the face by Arroyo. More jabs to the face while circling right.

VERY close round. Sheridan gave it to Nichol.

10-9 Arroyo

 

Round 2

Arroyo is placing his right jab well, circling right and moving his upper body rhythmically in time with Nichol's own jabs. Arroyo wings out a few flailing shots up close, behind Nichol's back. Big heavy left hand by Arroyo. Nichol backs out and regroups. Now Nichol comes back with right jabs and left crosses, aggressive. Arroyo blocks. Nichol catches him with a quick right jab up top. Straight left to the pecs, and a big right hook to the hip by Arroyo. Nice body combos. Nichol is slowing his advance, but still creeping his way in. Light body taps by Nichol as he presses Arroyo to the ropes. Arroyo backs up and throws a lead left from the hip.

20-18 Arroyo

 

Round 3

Arroyo is circling and popping the right jab, accurate with it. Nichol tries to sidestep and close the distance with swiping hooks. Arroyo lands some huge straight-armed body shots, having to spread out his wingspan and expose himself to throw them but keeping Nichol out. Nichol keeps walking through right hooks and left hands to the head, trying to employ some ducking and swerving defense but not effective with it - ever forward toward his quarry and determined. Arroyo is landing punches all over the place. Nichol is a tough *******.

30-27 Arroyo

 

Round 4

Very aggressive start by Nichol, jumping in and slapping the body of Arroyo with both hands. Arroyo pulls him close and then circles out with his quick right jab snapping up high upon release. Nichol walks into a flurry, bowing his head to blunt the impact but still getting Arroyo's fists bounced off his shaggy scalp. Clinch. Arroyo sticks a jab at mid-level and plugs a hard left cross to the body as Nichol is slipping the jab by drooping his top half off to one side. Nice right jabs by Arroyo. Nichol hoists his trunks up and spins to keep up with Arroyo. Nice body shots in combination by Arroyo. Nichol tries to slam through with an overhand left but gets quickly countered. Arroyo misses a big right hook spinning himself nearly around at the bell.

Round 5

Arroyo lands his right jab and maneuvers his way outside. Nichol gets inside on him and lands a double left hand. Nichol is bouncing on his toes, while Arroyo initiates a few consecutive holds. Nichol is actually looking fresher now. Big right hooks to the body by Arroyo on the outside, catching Nichol coming in. Nichol is cut by the right eye. Chopping right up close by Arroyo. Nichol throws a loose right jab and a looping left into the guard of Arroyo. Quick counter jabs and straight lefts by Arroyo, clinching if Nichol walks through them. Nichol backs him up and throws a left to the body. BIG SOUTHPAW ONE TWO BY ARROYO!! Nichol was stunned for a moment, but keeps coming. Combo by Arroyo, and a clinch.
