García Hirales somehow takes his lumps and manages to launch a frenzied assault of his own, throwing overhand lefts and right hooks at point blank until tiring and falling in to clinch. Mendoza is walking García Hirales down, willingly marching through counter left uppercuts just to get close and poke the body with jabs. Mendoza is stalking and making García Hirales flinch and cover up just with the feinted right, whipping in hard left uppercuts on the body when he does. Clinch by García Hirales.

García Hirales is pushing in on Mendoza, driving his right arm in and praying to get it wedged in with Mendoza's to stall the action in a tangle or brief game of tug-of-war if not a full-on clinch. These efforts are costly, sapping García Hirales' energy, but at least he isn't getting clipped with body shots while spoiling thus. Mendoza is sure to spackle all the gaps in García Hirales' negativity with heavy bombardment downstairs, even when having to lunge at range with García Hirales skipping away flipping up light right jabs. García Hirales is caught by a right hook while throwing a long 1-2 on the backfoot.

García Hirales is fending Mendoza off with push-jabs and raising his left in a crossbar over his face while sucking in his diaphragm to keep his body away from Mendoza's bombs. Low blow by García Hirales, landing a right hook just below the belt on the outer thigh while ducking in. The ref decrees it was intentional and takes a point. Mendoza is walking García Hirales down and throwing uppercuts with both hands on the body. García Hirales is rocked as Mendoza sneaks in a head shot. García Hirales holds. Break. García Hirales is flailing his arms out in retreat, looking unsteady.
