Didn't do it over twelve rounds, though. If Salido hangs around to the second half of the fight, things may start to get interesting.

This, given the source, is one of the more ironic statements that we'll read this evening.

This has to be the most ridiculous criticism of Loma to date. Has his chin been tested yet? No. Has he had a gut check moment yet? No.

But to assert he is like Khan and makes "serious technical mistakes" is laughable. Read any respected boxing analyst-try Vivek Wallace, for example-and they all rave about the kid's technical prowess.

If Salido starts off slow, like he did against Mikey, he's doomed. They wouldn't put Lomanchenko in this if they didn't think he could pull it off.

Yeah. That's why he was only 396-1 in the amateurs because his footwork is bad and he's always off balance.

He has more than one professional fight, if you don't wore headgear, and get paid in a boxing match for more than 3 minutes round, you are professional boxer

It's stupid to rush him that much IMO. The guy is still relatively young why risk a fight with Salido. Salido can ruin him if the things don't turned out as they expected. I think that Salido is on the slide but what I saw from Loma in his debut didn't impress me all that much to be honest and I'm not sure he is ready for such a dangerous fight.

Lomas choice apparently. The primary reason he signed with TR is that Arum had the promotional muscle to promise him a second fight title shot (Loma wanted it on his debut, but Arum said he'd need at least a minor belt to square it with the WBO).

I've gotta say tho, he impressed me a great deal on his pro-debut. I think the aggressive, high pressure style was quite deceptive - Loma actually got hit very little despite Ramirez' high volume and quick hands. Ramirez made a point of saying how hard it was to hit Loma post fight.

Worth noting that (although he hasn't got many significant names on his resume) Ramirez had never been stopped or even dropped (as per boxrec at least) as a pro.

That point holds true, and it may be literally gut check time as well.

Do we know how Vasyl responds to hard coordinated attacks on the body? :think

Most amateurs' styles don't lend themselves much to body work, even at the very top where he spent much of his time...

Can anyone recall him standing up to some really blistering salvos on the carapace from someone known to dig well down there?

I mean, he is pretty shredded but that doesn't always mean you can take 'em well. His chin and defense from the chest up might well live up to its promise but if he can't handle professional bod whackers it could be game over in spite of those and his other gifts...

I know he can dish it out downstairs (ask Ramirez, or many of his opponents from the world championships in Baku, or some from WSB) - but has anyone ever tested whether he can take it? ...because Siri can absolutely dish.

I'll watch it again before the Salido fight, but I distinctly remember Lomachenko losing track of where he was in the ring. At one point he tried to jump back for space and slammed into the ropes so hard I thought he might get whiplash

Also wasn't cool to get cut against a guy of that level. I wasn't impressed because I've seen much better from him. Looked like a small case of the jitters to me...but that's what the first fight is for I guess.

It's too soon for Loma. I do think he has a chance but I wouldn't be surprised if reality in the form of Orlando Salido hits him in the face on March 1st. What a deed if he wins.
