Knocked down four times, but every time he furiously got up and hit harder and faster. Mikey was getting overwhelmed and the tide was starting to turn. If Mikey hadn't taken the technical W, this might have become the modern Moore vs Durrelle.

yes, he was maxing out his heart, he knew he had to before it got stopped. his body was taking a solid beating, though, it was gonna start to fall apart very quickly and he had come nowhere near to putting mikey in danger.

Still amazing to see him knocking out Juanma Lopez not once but TWICE in his hometown of PR. Salido was a pitbull who just kept fighting and doing everything he can to win. Deserves a place in the HOF at some point.

Eh, this sounds very much like the "Margarito was coming on in the Cotto rematch and would've stopped him again if not for..." arguments.

IMO neither Salido nor Margarito need fans to stoop to such conjectural lower depths of on their behalf. Margarito has a win over Cotto already on his résumé and his victory will always be considered by even Cotto fans (at least objective and honest ones) the more creditable, hand wrap speculations aside, because they were both prime and of yet undamaged. Salido, likewise, has a great legacy even with a competitive but clear loss to Mikey in his twilight. Leave it alone.

I agree, and I think they were doing something similar to this on HBO's The Fight Game for a while. They were calling it "The Gatti List". It may have been used as more of a promotional tool for some of their fighters, but it was a cool idea.

I’m glad he has retired, he has given us war after war after war. If Gatti can make the HOF I don’t see why Salido can’t.

For all his lauded fights are great the two keep. Busy fights with Terdsak Jandaeng and Weng Haya might just be my favourites. Basically take turns dropping or hurting each other and go life and death for a while till Salido as per usual in this type fights endures and comes out victorious.

    Absolute barnburners.

Total carnage! Take away the ref and it’s damn near a fight to the the death coz I can’t see either man stopping.
