Two relatively light hitting heavy weights, with above average boxing ability. Both defeated some decent fighters, though I think Marvis beat a few men who were slightly better than Orlin's best. What do you guys think?
It would be a close fight, but as you mentioned, Marvis level of comp was slightly better, and with that, He would decision a game Orlin over 12 rounds.
orlin norris was no mug. his brother said in an interview for boxing monthly that orlin was easily the better boxer of the 2. marvis did compete at the highest level that you could aim for at heavy but i think orlin is overall the better fighter. orlin ud
Interesting match. I think the difference here may be the body punching Marvis brings into the mix. Having said that, I watched Orlin's master class against Page, and thought at the time he might be the one to eventually drive Tyson up a wall and decision Mike for his first defeat. Not exactly what happened when they did square off for real though. Still, a truly solid professional, and credible champion.
Norris would have probably stopped him. I believe James Smith threw the fight vs Marvis. Do you know who trained Smith ?
