Ortiz as a choice of opponent

I'm completely fine with it but i see where the doubters are coming from. the man was already beat. move on. it's not like the result was controversial (other than that 20 second recovery at the start of the 8th, desperate move by wilders team + horrible officiating there).

but i'm intrigued by it simply because Ortiz gave him trouble and almost had him out. Maybe he reigns in his recklessness and seals the deal this time.

 

Still a tougher guy than many out there

I do expect Wilder to get the job done without much this time out. However, stranger things have happened!

 

Considering we’re in an era where Eric Molina got 2 title shots within a year and a half, could’ve definetly been worse. And generally speaking, fighters with better technique do better in the rematches.

That said, Ortiz looks older and slower in each fight and Wilder had that 12 rounds of experience against Fury so he should get the job done quicker this time.

 

It’s still risky. He has power and is far better technically than Wilder. He’s also in good shape so he should be in Cojanu form more than Kaufmann/Hammer form.

 

I mean, better than Victor Ortiz.

 

I'd rather champs rematch opponents that ran it close or had some controversy. Compare it to fighters who are lucky to get the win and run.

 

It’s a good fight, but if you put boxing politics to one side, there are other matchups way more intriguing, given that Wilder has already beaten Ortiz.

 

I can't say that Ortiz is exactly who i'd like him to be fighting this Saturday..

BUT..

Shortly after their first fight - i'd always insist that Wilder would probably get ironed out if he was to fight Ortiz again.. then a few months later the rematch was announced!

The first fight was one of the most entertaining fights i've seen in years, i'll certainly be setting my alarm

 

Ortiz is no joke and never has been. This fight could go very wrong for Wilder.

Wilder deserves credit. He could be icing Whyte in 30 seconds for more money.

 

Wilder is being forced to fight Ortiz so the gullible ones may give him credit but the fact is Haymon blocked Ortiz from that AJ fight dso he was promised Wilder bc of actual limited relevant fights for him left in his WBC group he hides in and avoiding Whyte doesn't help bc hes the number one ranked in his own WBC . . If Wilder had his own voice he would have fought Kownacki a far easier fight bc Wilder is a puppet and those who haven't figured it out yet must be dummies themselves ,he fights who hes told or suggested !

Hell I just remembered a certain channel showed his contract he obtained through a source that had Al Haymon as a FINAL say on his fights,think about that one when you pick and choose whos ducking who ...... lol

Ortiz the opponent ? Hes a decent puncher and a southpaw that's all you need to have more then a chance at Wilder even at 49 years old. But the reality is he is fighting everyone around wilder which includes Refs, judges and boxing commission so im guessing a decision here considering hes in shape and Wilder has yet tpo show ability to box on the move and throw more then 2 shots in close range within 2 seconds ,hes a stop and look fighter beyond the one/two and cant throw punches back if they come at him which convinces me Ortiz can make it 12 rounds and then the fun begins bc I find it hard to see wilder actually out boxing Ortiz.
