The saying is you need a good jab to beat mayweather. the ones i've seen victor throwing in training are the ones up high

Oscar said when he went to Ortiz camp he was working and throwing his jab regularly. When Garcia says we will see a different Ortiz this is what I think they are talking about. But we will see what happens when he steps in that ring

Yeah from the few training clips I saw, it looked like he was throwing it a lot

The thing is will he use it in the fight. Watchmen sparring would give us a much better look. Can you teach a guy to use his jab in 7 weeks? He has pretty much been pawing it and using it as a distance finder.

No you can't. Ortiz didn't have a jab in his last fight. His jab will get countered every time he throws it.

As far as I remember, DLH kept throwing the jab at the same pace as the fight went on, at a constant pace. However, Money took the jab away from him.

That, and DLH can't cut the ring off, one of the weaknesses Roach learned from when he trained the guy used in the Pac fight.

I'm not sure a single punch is going to beat the guy in front of you. And since Ortiz is a southpaw, that punch isn't even going to be the main weapon he has. He doesn't need to land it as much. The right hand is where it's supposed to be at. Followed by a right hook. Basically, combinations. A lot of them. All very hard. With speed. So he just needs to throw the jab as a "sometimes" accurate punch with power.

Not getting discouraged. If you can't hit his face or body, break his arms with your fists. Sooner or later, he's going to drop his arms because he can't raise em up no more.

Shoulders are pretty resilient. I'd rather punch the guy's arms instead.

If you actually watch his fights he does use the jab as a range finder, it doesnt land but finds his range very well to set up lefts to the head and body.

One question if he paws that Jab as a range finder against Floyd what do you think is going to happen?

I dunno its kinda of what Klitschko does, but Ortiz doesnt extend it as much, I think he will have to tonight against Floyd though.

Nobody is expecting ortiz to outjab him and be Oscar 2.0 winning this fight, no, Ortiz is going to come out in beats mode like he did vs berto and will try to overwhelm floyd with his size and power, looking to land big and finish him.
Can it happen given the circumstances? hell yes! will it happen? probably not. What will happen? He might shake floyd up a few times but eventually get picked apart.
thats the most likely thing, not him jabbing trying to box with may.
