I was writing about Ortiz with the work ethic of 2018 / 2019 in his prime. So basically Ortiz in 2019 just 5-6 years younger. Obviously you do not beat the top guys with a lack of work ethic but i can also imagine he would have a better motivation if you have a good promoter who cares about you and makes good fights for you. Ortiz was always a bit lazy, wondering he puts it all on the line at 40/41 now and wasting the prime but he maybe has 2-3 years and i do expect him to stay busy like that. 4 fights in 12 months is a very good activity for a 40yo. But i like that. Of course he is limited at that age but i do not think he is an easy task for anyone right now. And imo Hammer is a pretty good win. For me Hammer is a Top 20 HW.
I still would favour Ortiz over Whyte and Brezeale. But he's looking very punchy lately. That beating he's taken from Deontay really took it out of him. Retirement time is coming for old grandpa Luis, and he should get ready for playing chess in central park. I don't want to see him take another ferocious beating from the devastating bronze bomber.
Absolutely! Whyte gets KTFO if he fights Ortiz which would be fantastic I'd love to see the epileptic shrunken head disappear. Though I disagree about Wilder I'd say it's 50:50
Well, he won pretty comfortably against a decent Euro level fighter in Hammer, so there's that. But think Ortiz looked his age quite a bit there, which is a shame. Love the idea of him against Povetkin but I don't see that coming. Him and Joyce is cool af. Odd that Ortiz still has the faster hands in that matchup
I still give Ortiz a shot at Joshua. He's a big strong unit and for me the best counterpunches in the division. Like most Cubans he's slightly flawed. But its a good match up for someone like Joshua. Who will most probably come to fight. Guys like Ortiz and povetkin better pure fighters than Joshua....its just that athletically they can't quite match up to him. I think Ortiz has enough bulk to keep himself in there against Joshua tho. He's a big solid unit. Part of Ortiz,s tactics is getting hit btw. Pretty sure its part of his tactics to lure the opponent in. Jennings actually landed more on Ortiz than Ortiz landed on Jennings. Jennings was the one that came out beat up tho. He knows he's a big enough unit to still hurt most of his opponents more than they,ll hurt him most of the time. It opens up for him to counter. He,d change that for Joshua tho. Wouldn't need to do it cause Joshua would be looking to come out to fight anyway. I still think its a harder fight for Joshua than most realize. Although time is starting to tick for Ortiz.
