Ortiz competes in triathlon By Francisco Salazar Before hunkering down to focus entirely on Floyd Mayweather on September 17th in Las Vegas, welterweight world title holder Victor Ortiz completed the Sprint Triathlon at Camp Pendleton near San Diego on Saturday morning. The triathlon consisted of a 500-yard swim, a 30-kilometer (about 18 miles) bike ride, and a five kilometer (3.1 miles) run. Ortiz completed the course with a time of one hour, 36 minutes, and 56 seconds, finishing ninth in the 20-24 age elite category. His manager, Rolando Arellano, told Fightnews.com that he also ran the triathlon, completing the course over two hours and 17 minutes. Ortiz (29-2-2, 22 KOs) will resume his training at Knuckleheadz gym in Ventura.
Ortiz could make this a real war, we will find out soon.......................Void still refuses to fight Pac, Void is a coward...............Void is void...........
not new for those who follow the sport avidly and bet on it. this is no pushover for mayweather. mayweather knows it. anyone saying this is a dumb matchup obviously don't know **** about boxing.
Its not a dumb matchup but the only real question about the fight is what shape Mayweather is in. If the FMJ of the Mosley fight turns up, its a guaranteed UD win for FMJ.
a 500 yard swim, 5k run and a medium length swim shouldn't be an issue for a professional endurance athlete. probably just another way to get some fitness work in!
I don't think so. A young and motivated body can take huge punishment, plus in camp it's gonna be regular boxing training. Everything is positive coming from Vic, that's why I've been saying from day one this is a very dangerous fight for Floyd, possibly the upset of the year.
someone should've told paul williams about this!!! i mean the guys skill level is off the hook but he just didn't have any endurance!!!
