Fury has called them both out of retirement. They are both probably younger than Ortiz, both probably would give him a better fight, both would definitely generate more money, and unlike Ortiz, we know for sure Lennox at least ain't dirty, so is more deserving
He's had 350 amatuer fights. He has had plenty of wear and tear on his body. The roids won't help the situation either, as they mess up your joints and stop your body from producing testosterone. Actually, he is essentially right. Whereas I do not believe that Lewis or Vitali are coming back, and Fury hates Haye, you can add Chagaev, Povetkin, Martin and Joshua to the list. If Pulev beats Chisora, he is back in the mix, and allegedly Helenius has been negotiating for a title fight. It is suddenly an extremely crowded division, and Ortiz is going to have to do more than beat Jennings, WHO WAS COMING OFF OF A LOSS, to make his case. What is more, Fury has stated that the organizations are not going to dictate who he defends agasint--so if ordered he may simply, and reasonably, throw the belt in the trash rather than be ordered to defend against a known steroids cheat. To be blunt, I would. So there is no cause to fear--Fury will face him if, and only if, he earns a shot and he feels it is the right thing to do. In a way you are making the point. Povetkin is 36 years old, has the third best record in heavyweight boxing, and is the legitimate number one contender for the WBC belt. Ortiz is (at least) 36 years old, just got the first and only notable win in his career, and is involved in a WBA "tournament" mess that will probably take another two years to sort out. Povetkin is ready for his big last chance stike, Ortiz is still a bit lost somehwere. Finally, I am going to defend Ortiz a bit. Whereas I think you have said some very sensible things about Fury having bigger fish to fry and Ortiz needing constant drug testing, the guy has talent and there is no way that guys like Chisora or Price are going to beat him. He is a big, massive punching southpaw with 350 amateur fights to his credit. The guy is not an easy night for anyone.
Actually glad to see you back Hans. The troll balance around here was completely out of line and made this place insufferable
This is where Cuba and Russia part ways. Cuba didn't nationalize Steroids. US companies coat child cereal with powdery sugar excessively. Russian companies coat children cereal with Grade A steroids. Povetkin grew up on them and even carries a bag in his backpack for snack.
We can finally agree on something. Fury looks ancient. Ortiz is ancient...he's way older than his listed 36.
