Strange fight to make, did not see this one coming! Mckinson around a year ago was an obscure small hall fighter, so throwing him in with Ortiz Jnr. based on what exactly- the Chris Kongo win? Fair play to him if he takes it and hope he makes good money out of it as he will unfortunately get badly beaten up and stopped. Sadly he just has no power, yes he's tricky and slick but a heavy handed puncher with a good engine will just walk through him.
He's already earned the right to fight Benn if you ask me, Benn's not Floyd Mayweather Jnr, he's a lad with a watered down WBA trinket on a corpse beating mission, Benn v McKinson would be a great domestic fight that could be made tomorrow.
Mckinson does not have a chance. Hope he gets paid well, otherwise I can see no idea in taking a fight where he is sure to receive a proper beating.
It's a massive opportunity for him and he will earn life changing money so why isn't it a good idea? It's the chance of a lifetime.
Benn said on commentary after Mckinson’s previous win over Runowski that he gains nothing from fighting Mikey. That made no sense because Mckinson is ranked 3rd with the WBO. He and Bellew agreed that if Mckinson wins a World Title then there’s a conversation to be had.
"Number one fighter in the UK" - Conor Benn It's bizarre, you can't carry on like that and swerve all Brits, he'll be the first to chime in if McKinson loses to Ortiz Jnr
Hearn has basically said they’re avoiding all live opponents while they try and build ‘a global star’.
100% agree with you. But Hearn and Benn are looking for very faded 'names', and not improving fighters like McKinson.
Literally protecting the 0 until it's at it's premium cash out price, at least the ending will be probably worth the wait. It's a shame as Conor could be in some decent fights that he could still win and develop more from so when that big fight does come he'll be better prepared, we've seen what happens when you play it safe and then go up a few levels with Yarde.
Can’t fookin wait. Hearn is emotionally invested in Benn like he was with AJ. The day Benn gets flattened and Hearn has to jump in the ring squirming in his interview is going to be glorious.
At least Yarde went away from home to fight Kovalev in his 19th fight and has faced a British rival twice. Benn wouldn't dare do something like that.
Think you need to step away from following boxing ma man if that's how you feel could be a long wait for ya.
