I wish him all the best with the fight and I am glad he gets a good pay day.

Mckinson isn't any easy Fight for ortiz either. I was very impressed by Mckinson against Congo. I will still pick ortiz to win because he is very highly rated over in America

I'm interested to see McKinsons defence in this, if he can stay elusive and frustrate it could become a bit of a nightmare for Ortiz Jnr. McKinson's record suggests he's extremely feather fisted so it's a safe fight for Ortiz Jnr in that sense but McKinson has proved he can box up to the level he's fought at so far.

I rate McKinson but to rehash what everyone's saying, lack of power will be his undoing here. Could see him winning the first third of the fight though.

I don't know about anyone else but Ortiz just feels like another one of those run of the mill young up and coming pressure fighters who build a fearsome reputation (IE Omar Figueroa, Juan Diaz, Michael Katsidis, Santa Cruz, Victor Ortiz, etc) but they often have a face-first defence and come up unstuck once they hit the top level. I envision this same outcome for Vergil. In 2-3 years time I feel like he'll have a stoppage loss or two to his name and Ennis will be the top dog. Meanwhile Benn will be getting lined up to face Alfonso Gomez.

This seems to have come around quickly, it's on this Saturday, I'd love an upset, imagine Hearn and Benn if he pulled it off.

Good to see a young British welterweight stepping up to the plate.

You have to wonder why McKinson can face Ortiz but Benn can't.

McKinson has to take career risks that Benn doesn't (at this stage anyway) because he has £££ invested in him.

Ortiz was ordered to fight DA I'm a final eliminator but took this instead. Still seems odd.

Decided to go the WBC route as PBC have the WBC and only want to deal with other PBC fighters

If Ortiz took the WBC route he’d have probably had to wait over 2 years. Stanionis stepped aside to allow Spence to fight Ugas with the winner of Stanionis v Buatev getting the winner of Spence/Ugas and then there’d probably be a voluntary defence allowed somewhere in there. Not to mention they’re all with PBC.

Ortiz and McKinson are 2 and 3 with the WBO and Crawford is a free agent. Should be a lesser wait and much easier fight to make.

    Correct decision IMO.

Mckinson profile raises just for fighting Ortiz, it sores if he provides Ortiz his toughest fight and would put him in good stead for future big fights if he does.
