He looked mediocre for most of the fight. His defense is lacking big time. He showed a good jab for the first time.

Victor Ortiz is a SISSY quitter PUNK! This guy has all the talent in the world, but no HEART. How in the world are you going to tell the ref that your jaw is broken, then turn away and quit. Punk Ass Girl! He's definitely not Mexican in any way shape or form. He quit? He's the most mentally week fighter I have ever seen. I hope he quits and never is seen in a ring again. Damn *****!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I predicted a robbery in favor of Ortiz. Judging by the scorecards at the time of the stoppage I definitely could have been right on the money. The broken jaw came as a surprise as it seemed like Ortiz was gonna be able to take Lopez's shots for all twelve rounds and receive a gift decision (Lopez was landing clean bombs and it was only gonna get worse for Ortiz).

I think he was starting to lose the round or 2 before Lopez started coming strong..

He didn't look good. He looked like he threw hard punches, which he does, but he got hit cleanly with big shots in every round. How can you look good when you take punishment almost as bad (or worse) than you're dishing out?

The guy squares up way too much for my liking. Just about half the time he threw his straight left he'd bring his left foot even with his lead right. That move leaves him open to so much countering it isn't funny.

I'm thinking his 15 minutes of fame are fast being used up and another fight like his last 2 will put him out of top competition.

Yeah, yeah, I know he was ahead on the judges scorecards, but this last minute replacement opponent gave him all he wanted, then some by breaking his sternum and jaw---------if all the reports are accurate. Alvarez would destroy Ortiz.

As usual, my 'cable' was acting up at fight time. I'll have to watch the replay to see if my original thoughts hold.

I thought Victor was coming unglued against a guy that was simply more macho than him. The 'little guy' was clearly getting too him. Hell, Victor lost the pre-fight stare down even.

    :yep

There's a perfect right hand counter from Floyd after Ortiz gets himself out of position this same way.

Bar some of the early rounds -- where he looked lke he was warming up -- he actually looked pretty ****. Defence was as bad as it's ever been, and he just as physically strong/imposing as he should have been over a 140-pounder. I think he may have overtrained.
