So much was made about Ortiz being the next big thing. Kotelnik beat Maidana quite decisively. Ortiz was also stopped by Khan in the amatuers. Since parallels are drawn between Ortiz and Khan I also must say that I was amazed at how Khan got up from 2 brutal knock downs by Prescott wanting to fight again. And the way ease with which Ortiz seemingly gave up certainly calls into question his heart.

All in all a disappointing performance to say the least.

I hear where you're coming from.
But in boxing fans will always eat you alive when you choose to quit.
But why do you post like this?
    I was just wondering.
    Good post though.

Why box if you are going to quit when it gets tough?

Unless you are physically injured and can't continue.

damn i definitely wasn't expecting that! he got put in with a guy who was waayy too dangerous too early in his career. i think he will recover from it and still has potential to be a great fighter, he just needs to learn how to deal with adversity. you're a boxer for ****'s sake. you don't just get down on yourself and give up.

makes me want to change my avatar... god dammit.

i understand you......and he manned up i give him that

but it was the way he quit.....the way he quit disrespected all the fighters who was hurt and wanted to quit and didn't because they had to fight to feed them familes/themselves. he just quit and acting like nothing was wrong with it.

when gman quit he quit cause he couldn't fight no more....ortiz quit because he didn't want to get hurt on the long run

Yeah it was mostly that. :good

Cotto fans didn't give up on him when he quit against Margarito because when the fight was over he gave full credit but promised that he would be back. Ortiz gave the impression that if he's ever in that spot again things won't be any different.

Cotto did not quit...he gave all until his legs gave out!!! Do not compare Ortiz's situation with Cotto's. Very very different
