6th round it was stopped. Your thoughts. Good fight but many mistakes by Ortiz.

poor chin and heart by Victor. Should have continued, he showed he could hurt Maidana but didn't seem to want it enough.

I always wanted to see what would happen when he got chin checked and now we know. Good fight. Ortiz could have won; but he showed that he didn't want it as much.

Ortiz was broken down mentally more than physically. He quit.

this is what happens when fighters are annointed without being truly tested. at the first sign of real adversity they don't know how to handle it.

    he flat out quit

Great fight. I was expecting more from Ortiz but he quit. Shame.

    That was an awesome fight.

I thought Ortiz almost broke Miadana's will early on, but it was his will that wound up being broken just a few rounds later.

I knew Maidana would be a tougher test for Ortiz than many were expecting, but I never managed he would just break Ortiz down like that.

Ortiz looked like he had no desire to finish the fight.

I'm not criticizing his heart or desire, but I'd be lying if I did not say I thought he was made of tougher stuff.

Entertaining fight with what was, in my view, a very surprising result.

Ortiz is being frank in the post fight interview, and I always appreciate someone who can tell it like it happened, especially in a losing effort.

My initial thoughts are that maybe Ortiz can win a rematch somewhere down the road.

Manny was right early on. He could have boxed more.

Whether he has the mental toughness to win the rematch is the bigger question.

Firstly he tried to fight fire with fire and stand infront of the brawling Maidana, when he should have set up with a few jabs and take his time eventually Maidana will tire, Kotelnik showed the blueprint to beat Maidana.
I don't blame him for quitting his cut is absolutely huge and the swelling looks bad now too, he was gonna get KTFO, better to keep his health he's got a good future in boxing. The fight will help in the long term.
