Maidana deserved to win that fight, too, IMO.

there have been fighters that have fought with worse cuts than that . quitting is never good for a fighter, it makes it easier to quit the next time. just ask popo freitas.

this was not a case of a fighter being dominated and succumbing to the pressure. ortiz quit in a fight he was ahead in because he did not want to deal with the heat.

He has a shot with Roach in his corner, but I'd still go with Maidana by KO.

That's true. Also, why the hell did he say that he wouldn't go out on his shield? He openly admitted to not wanting to get punched anymore.

I think Khan will beat this guy becaue Khan can box and has a good corner. It reminds me of Zab Judah when he fought Baldomir. Zab could have easily outboxed Baldimri and won the fight, but too much pressure to "look good" for the up and coming fight against Mayweather and then get caught up in trying to be a puncher against a true puncher. Boxing is about winning, not knocking guys out all the time. Even though knockouts are exciting, many fighters forget to leave their ego in the dressing room and study their opponent enough to win.
For Ortiz to go further, he needs a professional corner. They should have been shouting at him to box the guy. He could see the looping right hand a mile away, but the other guys was able to time Ortiz well when he wound up to throw power punches.
Ortiz will be back. Hopefully, to be a great fighter he will let it go that he has to knock everyone out to be a champion.
