Ortiz to shock the world?

You say Pac hasn't been remotely as hurt as Floyd, Pacs been knocked out twice, he's been dropped and wobbled...what the hell are you talking about???

 

I don't expect Ortiz to win, but I will not be surprised if he does..............

 

I was all for victor shocking the world but once he popped out of the pink limousine...

 

Andre Berto still never faced a top 147 fighter so we don't know how good his power really is. Seeing how he couldn't really hurt Jan, I think Berto's power is severely overrated.

Victor looked good against Berto, who he traded knockdowns with and couldn't finish off, and a person who doesn't box at all.

He carried his power, good, problem is he can't negate any of the skills Floyd has in which he can outbox him.

 

It's more that Victor got the doubts clearly behind him. You need confidence to fight throwing power like he does. All signs pointing towards finally seeing a maniac in his prime possibly peak throwing a **** load of power shots vs an inactive fighter. I think it will be hard to prepare for the anger Ortiz has and the pace it could bring.

I totally agree about the chin thing. There was me thinking I was the only one who thought this. His chin is overrated. Why it is, I do not know. The few times in his career where he's been caught flush by decent punchers, he's been wobbled in all of them. If I was to pick one of the weaker points of his game - which there aren't many - then his chin would be one of them. Not saying it's totally crap or anything, but it's not great or solid like some people try to make out.

Agreed. Shut out win for Floyd, possible late TKO, with Mayweather dominating every single round. Ortiz has no hand speed compared to Floyd and drops his right hand coming in. He is stylistically made for Mayweather, I can't believe some people don not see this.

 

Ortiz also telegraphs his shots even when he is hitting the heavybag.

 

The rate Berto was landing cleaning and powerfully on Jan should have made some impact on his conscousness if he was a true power puncher, like I said Berto never fought a top level WW so we don't know if he has real power.

He could get the doubts behind him, but he hasn't developed boxing technique, he is fundamentally solid to an extent, but he has noticible flaws he hasn't correct, is offensively extremely predictable, can not fight except in a straight line, and has trouble when a boxer walks him down and turns him.

 

There's many factors to consider:

Mayweather does not struggle against southpaws, but he usually gets hit by them much cleaner.

Mayweather absent from the ring for 16 months.

Ortiz has power in abundance, has apparently knocked down every opponent he has faced.

Yet money has never been knocked down so this is great to see if money can not get decked.

Ortiz struggled to make lww a little, so this may have affected his previous performances and possibly his power and the Berto fight showed us this.

IMO, Floyd's not gettin' near the credit deserved for fighting Ortiz. He's a very dangerous opponent, don't care what nobody says.:yep

 

Ortiz has about 4 rounds to bullrush Floyd and possibly stun him, I just cant see him stopping Mayweather even if he lands big, after that Floyd will have his measure and it'll get worse as the fight goes on. It'll be a slow death as Ortiz tires and Floyd picks the young bull off like the proverbial Matador. I hope I am wrong and rust and complacency are prevalent in Mayweathers performance but what are the chances of that?
