WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz, a native of Garden City, told the Journal-World on Tuesday night that he plans to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Sept. 16 in Las Vegas.
"I just need to look at the contract and make sure everything is OK," Ortiz said. "It’s not 100 percent sure yet, but that’s what I’m setting my sights on."
Far from confirmed although Boxrec already have the fight listed but at Cowboys Stadium:bbb

How close do we think this one is?

Either way, Ortiz will bottle it and quit in the first.

It will be like most Mayweather fights. First 4 rounds are competative and then he take over. Starts to dominate. Looks like he would get a KO at various points but doesn't really go for it and wins a wide UD.

He should fight Pacquiao or retire, noone wants another "tune up" followed by another "retirement"

Another whip of convenient cherry-picking from Floyd.

Coming off an impressive win over Berto, everyone is on the Ortiz bandwagon - immediately regarding him as an attractive/legit opponent for Floyd to come back to. When the fact is, Floyd will...

    • Have an easier night than he did against JMM.
    • Collect a nice paycheque in the process.
    • Continue pretending he wants the Pac fight, whilst pursuing the ‘take the tests’ campaign.
    • After the fight fails to be made (again), go back into temporary retirement for another year.
I wish the ***** would just **** off and retire for good.

lol, Ortiz is the champ at 147 and floyd is cherry picking. Meanwhile Pacman is fighting someone Floyd dominated in his last fight a year ago.

Pac should tell Kellerman in the post fight interview that he will take any tests floyd wants him to take and he should call floyd out there and then. If he never agrees to full testing the fight won't happen, simple.

Pacquiao's the champion at 147 mate.

He's demolished Cotto, Clottey and Margarito back to back, and will probably add Shane to that list next.

All Ortiz did (and credit to him btw because many including me doubted him) was beat a ''champion'' who many said had it coming and was both overpaid and overhyped.

It's not like Floyd to fight the loser, after all he took on the loser of Judah vs Baldomir first :hey

Pacquiao shouldn't agree to **** - I agree that full blood testing should be the rules, but they aren't and as such all Manny has to do is **** in a cup..... Mayweather doesn't make the rules.

Anything that comes from Floyd these days is hot air, nothing more.
