Barrera, Sakasul and Hatton were never on 7 figure pay days except when hatton faced mayweather & Pacman
Roach is on record as saying a Guzman fight was a bad style match up when both were the top dogs at 130.
So the best case against Pacquiao is he hasn't fought Andre Berto, he's only fought Cotto and Margarito. And years ago he should have fought Guzman. Great stuff, I think we could pick out names for anybody when they've been in about 10 divisions that they could and maybe should of fought but the general idea is Pacquiao has pretty much fought the best comp available in recent years. Cherryweather hasn't been. I'm still waiting for him to man up and sign this fight that everyone wants to see. BTW if we do this for Mayweather there are quite a lot of names that he 'should' have fought and didn't along the lines of Guzman for Pacquiao.
Mayweather is still waiting for Pacquiao to accept the demands he gave at the very first negotiations.
Mayweathers 'demands' are a load of shite that demonstrate he has no intention of being within the same zip code as Pacquiao.
You want a full list of fighters Pacquaio should have fought, because he's missed plenty but hasn't been under the spotlight like Mayweather, the Guzman fight was as big a duck as Mayweather's done at 147, Guzman was the outstanding unbeaten champion from 122-130, Roach said it was a bad style match, ok here are the rest: JMM immediate rematch (notice they took the rematch after JMM lost to John and looked poor against MAB) JMM immediate rubber match Barios/Sotto/Guzman/Raheem at 130 Raheem/Casamoyor/Juan Diaz instead of David Diaz Mosley instead of Cotto at 147 (Cotto looked terrible against Clottey and MArg) Mayweather instead of Clottey (he had a 50-50 offer to fight the lineal champion of the division and biggest draw in the sport, no excuse it should have happened first time whether Mayweather was being a **** or not) In effect he didn't fight the best at 130,135,147 or 154 Pacquaio's fought very good competition no doubt, but not quite as good as people hype it to be, allot of the fights had favourable circumstances or timing and flattered him.
I believe it was. PowerPuncher is primarily a Classic poster: a top bloke and very knowledgable, but he would be the first to admit he would defend Floyd is he took on Thora Hird in a 'warm up fight'
A bit more complex than both scenarios, JMM was offered something like 20% of the purse asked for more but was rejected, in reality he probably should have taken it as he was at his peak and would adjust, Pacquaio was pre-prime Which opponent is so much better, the Morales coming off a shut off loss to Raheem? The ODLH/Hatton already beaten by Mayweather? The Margarito who was battered by Mosley? The Cotto coming off 2 poor performances? They are all good wins, very good, but it's flattering to deceive If it led to something bigger maybe This 1 isn't a bad 1 though, certainly a live body, maybe with a 20-30% chance of causing an upset, you never know in boxing, Mayweather's 34 now. The latest I've heard from the Mayweather's is pretty depressing, a complete lack of confidence and drive, pretty unfounded uninspiring lack of confidence, although Floyd supposedly rarely talks to Roger/daddy EDIT: You know you'll watch it live hoping for an upset Flea
Raheem was neither relevant at 130 (fought he was a career lightweight? I may be wrong) nor when Pac fought at 135. I guess Pac should've fought Nate Campbell or Ali Funeka?!? Fact is, the defence is Floyds resume. And the fighters he never faced, oh, of course, loads of people turned him down yet everyone was well up for having their heads punched in by Manny :deal Fact is, both men have amassed the resumes they have up to this point; one is sub-par to a lot of 'great' fighters, the other is a very, very good resume. People love to go on about Floyds weight jumping. Not important IMO, bit Pac has been through more. Pac has more 'names'. He also has better opposition. Floyd was always rated based pm his ability to outclass opponents and win widely on the cards. Manny has whitewashed most of his opposition as of late. So why is Floyd held in such high regard? Especially when he rarely fights anymore, and usually stinks the place out when he does. I'd also like to know how many quality opponents Mosley has shook that badly with a single right hand? :think If the final point seems stupid, this thread has already had Rob claiming 'Pac doesn't fight the best fighters' and then rebuked proof by claiming they didn't earn enough atsch This is the kind of logic it requires to try and claim Floyds superiority.
